The one stat I do respect is the final league table, and Wagner won that comparison hands down. Had Thorup carried over into next season, I would have taken a year off. Those final 10 games were painful to watch.

According to the league table Pulis was the best manager Stoke had ever had but would I want him anywhere near my team - certainly not. I made the same threat about Wagner as you made about Thorop but would we really see it through? Having supported them since I was first taken to a game 75 years ago, backed them through near bankruptcy and re-election to the league in the 1950's, followed them faithfully through the dross of the 1960's, suffered various relegation disappointments and also the fall from grace saved by Paul Lambert - would I really have stopped because I hated the way one Manager had taken us? Of course I wouldn't.

I see Adeboyega has said he played 30 games for Dundee U last season and he is now a much better player for it, having learned to read the game much better among other things. One thing he said that made me laugh. Away to Ross County early in the season he thought they were playing rugby.

Jacob Wright signing is officially confirmed!

4 year deal takes him to 2029 with an additional 1 year option

From what I was of him, admittedly only on my tablet, this guy looks to be the real thing. Can see him having a very successful and high level career.

Feels like we're on the right end of the deal with Jacob Wright. £2-3m sounds like a bargain. I hope Man City will be able to overcome this revenue shortfall.

Even with add-ons that could make it £3m, this seems to be a good deal. After 3 games to adjust to this level, his ratings averaged well over 7 points a game in his last 7 games in spite of the overall decline in results at the end. He provided 4 assists in his final 4 games. He was rated Very Strong for passing and set piece taking and Strong for key passes and aerial duels and had no significant weaknesses. That's incredible for a 19 year old coming in late in the season. IMO, on the evidence so far, ManCity seriously underpriced him and he's by far Knapper's best signing to date.

"Comits fouls often" but in those last ten games received only one yellow. Like you Rick I can't believe that we got him so cheaply. And so happy we did get him.

Fouls are part of a good day's work for a DM. The one yellow is pretty amazing though. What's more amazing are his contributions to the attack and his brilliant corner taking. Four assists in four games.

Its worth noting that Man City have inserted a Buy-Back clause into the deal. Nobody has confirmed the value however, although extremely likely the value would be for significantly more than our purchase price I would think, and if he becomes good enough that Man City want to buy him back then he will have done well for us

Apparently Olympiacos are now interested in Borja. Let the bidding war commence.

Remember Sebastian Soto? Left us three years ago to join Austria Klagenfurt but now without a club for a year. Scored just one goal for their first team. I guess SW was responsible for our signing him. Remember him scoring twice for USA in his first international.

Pinkun report a potential replacement for Long:

"Norwich City are closing in on the signing of Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw. The Canaries are hopeful of securing the 27-year-old's signature after the summer transfer window opened for an early registration period yesterday, although they're targeting two stoppers before the window shuts in September. A direct replacement for outgoing keeper Angus Gunn is yet to be sourced, with City reviewing their options ahead of what's expected to be a busy summer. Reports from Sky Sports broke this morning that a £600k fee had been agreed with the Pilgrims for Grimshaw, with a medical potentially coming as early as this week if personal terms can be agreed in time. Grimshaw previously played for Belgian side Lommel when they were managed by Bristol City boss Liam Manning, who is expected to be confirmed as the new Norwich head coach in short order. Manning will work with sporting director Ben Knapper on transfers as they plot a Championship play-off push next season, although much of the talent identification work has already been completed by the recruitment team."
