Suggests that Damysus was the only horse that could be deemed unlucky and that Pride Of Arras was a good winner. It also suggests The Lion In Winter is a silly price given that race. However, can you forgive one run?

I'd say this suggests that Damysus is overpriced at 12/1 in comparison to TLIW and Pride Of Arras.

This shows that Ruling Court got a more optimum ride than Field Of Gold, and that has obviously been franked. It also suggests Shadow Of Light should have got closer to the winner, whilst there was a good distance back to the rest. Interesting that Wimbledon Hawkeye features in both and is beaten a longer distance by Ruling Court. Strong form, but can he do it over the Derby trip?

Unsurprisingly for me, the sectional upgrades for this suggest that Lambourn could have won even easier, he was given a peach of a ride and we know the trip is fine. The key question with him is purely, "is he good enough".

Then you have Stanhope Gardens, who is very tricky to assess given his last race, and Purview who ran into Delacroix last time.

 

Suggesting Ammes would have got very close if they had run to an optimum running style. Suggests Al Wasl Storm got the run of the race and that made the difference, and that Ammes and Pole Star would have got much closer.

 

So for your sectional upgrade selections Nass, are you pulling out the ones with the biggest upgrades or are you using the upgraded finishing position to assess the form?

Morning Ron, biggest upgrades, which means we are pulling out horses who seem to have very little chance on the formbook. The idea of the system is to find big price winners. It is failing at the minute, but one big price would turn it all around still....

Funnily though, I have been reading races differently with this data, and that forms more along the upgraded finishing position line. That is currently providing more success, but again, that is short term view of it all.

 

Morning Nass. Just wondering if, having selected a horse with the biggest sectional upgrade, you effectively "put in" the horse that won the race in which the selection ran, to see if that would be favourite to win the race in which the selection now runs. If you would expect that horse to win this race by say 5l, and the sectional upgrade of the selected horse put it within 4l of the winner that day, it could imply that the selected horse is therefore well over-priced and highly likely to win; especially if it also has a jockey and/or going and/or distance upgrade. Throw in stable in form. If the winner of the race resulting in the sectional upgrade has run well since that would be an extra plus.

I suppose I should mention that you wouldn't want the winner of the race in which the sectional upgrade selection ran to have been given a negative sectional upgrade

I think what I am saying, from a different angle, is that, even with the sectional upgrade it could still have no chance on form; so using it blindly may throw up the occasional winner but is likely to have long losing runs

I think the sectional upgrades combined with other factors mentioned above are invaluable. It would be very difficult to take into account factors like"not fully wound up and in need of race" and "ran green/pulled hard" etc
