A season of struggle, disappointment, and relegation for Ipswich was reflected in our predictions league. All of us - bar Top Bunk (four predictions) and Warky (one prediction) - had a prediction guess percentage lower than 50%, as our optimism was punished week-in, week-out. Having said all that, I'm pleased to join Big Al by getting my name chiselled on the trophy as champion. With a final tally 21 points fewer than last season's winning total - even accounting for an extra point for an exact score - I don't think I'll be a winner that's remembered! No consolation for Stretchy - who ran me close - but settles for silver. The last day saw some change as Big Al rises to clinch bronze and Yorkie bags an exact score prediction to leapfrog Evesham to fourth. Gaffer takes a second consecutive sixth place spot - possibly becoming the Crystal Palace of the Predictions League through consistent respectability. Mikey's late flurry of predictions gets him a mid-table place, finishing ahead of Spanish - who had a late refusal for predictions as he sipped sangria, watched Barcelona, and did anything other than put himself through late-season Ipswich games. This season's Mr Optimistic, San Diego, fell from second last season to lower mid-table and a 13.16% score percentage from 38 guesses! This year's honorary member, ristac, was only a couple of points off SD - but with Leeds back in the big time, will he mix it up with us hoi polloi next year? Royston tops the bottom three, but will likely be much higher next season if he ups the number of predictions. King of Portman Road is king of the league basement, but with only one late-season incorrect prediction it does feel a little harsh. As for the start of the season predictions - we can all congratulate ourselves on correctly predicting McKenna lasts the season. Myself, Stretchy, and NotAYank foresaw relegation from the start, but nobody got 19th place correct. Myself, Top Bunk, Evesham, SD, and Stretchy (who gets bonus points for the correct number of league goals) all predicted Delap as our top scorer. Sounds like a good year of predictions for Nuggets, you may reflect. I'll burst the bubble by reminding us I had Arsenal as champions and Nottingham Forest to go down. Until next season lads!
Top dog, well done Nuggets, and we can all look forward to our blind optimism actually winning more games next season!
Brilliant work Nuggets, let's hope we can all be more positive with our forecasts next Season!! COYB!!!
A fairly respectable prediction rate. I'm aiming to predict all games next season. Thanks for putting it together and keeping score.
