Watching the after match show with Frankie and Danny. Absolute carnage and Luke O’Nien has me in tears. Again

Yep fair it’s my opinion it was brilliant. Seeing I was likely one of only one or two people on here who was purely using the thread to follow the match, rather than look back on it after the match, I’m extremely grateful for those who did post during as it was my only way of knowing what was going on. And at no point did I feel like people were being too negative. Nobody was repeating anything like I keep seeing you claiming. Not this time.

People calling out others for posting their views retrospectively in a high pressured game, when any match report you read will agree we started badly, are a bit out of order frankly. And yes that’s my opinion.

I don’t even understand why those who were at the game feel the need to go back through the thread and see what others were posting during it. The thread is for everyone at all times to post how they want.

It’s the last I’m saying on it as I’m kinda done with people looking for arguments. It ruins what should be good threads.

Ok, I find him really frustrating but credit where it’s due. Maybe the bloke who sits behind me at the SoL constantly shouting “give it to Paddy” is right:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Many people have said they're put off posting, on match threads, because of the mood and negativity …

… easily ignored that point tbh.

As long as the few are happy though, I expect that's what counts …

Had no idea Roberts was injured. Fair play to the guy. Been a great servant of the club and whilst he’s been off form this season it seems he helped change the game on Saturday which arguably more than makes up for it!!

Wouldnt go as far to say hes underrated but hes absolutely been underappreciated as a Sunderland player.

Dropped down to League 1 when he probs could of got a Championship move. Scored the winner in the semi final playoffs (an all timer moment). Started a playoff final win (our first at Wembo). His performances with Amad were some of the best football I've seen at the SOL.

Then this season, his output has been poor, maybe even unacceptable from a forward, I'm not questioning that. But is it a coincidence Hume got player of the year when he had Roberts in front of him who grafts his arse off defensively every game. He had no competition to give him a rest either, there's a reason RLB trusts him as he buys into the identity of this team.

Then you get to the playoffs and his work rate in the away leg was incredible and his ball retention was good and vital. He then plays with an injury and imo other than Patto was the key factor in us winning the game. That pass was the best of the season for us imo and his introduction began to change the game in our favour.

People forget the jokers we had representing us a few years ago. Roberts isnt one of them, do we need to improve on him, absolutely, but hes been a credit to the club imo and I'll remember him fondly whenever he ends up moving on.

genuinely, wholeheartedly, my favourite ever Sunderland player.

Not the best, not the most talented. But my favourite.

And I really hope he gets to play in the premier league with us

No way Luke is moved on. He might not be first 11 but he will accept that and he will fight to try and get there.

You wouldn’t back against him doing it either, he has sailed every challenge.

A good ball carrier at CB is very suited to the PL.

not sure I’d want him starting regularly but wouldn’t want anyone else to bring on after 80 minutes if we’re 1-0 up and defending for our lives.

I’d probably say the same for champions league, genuinely

    Aye, nailed it mate.

That said he’s adapted and adapted some players just take to the PL, and I’d never rule that lad out of doing anything.

If WW3 kicked off I’d wanna look left and see LON in my squad. Can’t say it in stronger terms than that.

Born 1995 and my first season that I really remember was the lowest points total one with the first I really remember following was the Keane first season. So the amount of Sunderland legends candidates is in short supply.

I would say Defoe was the only one I would say got close to legendary status (someone might remind me of others) but Onien has surpassed him imo and has absolutely earned complete legend status now. One I think will get a testimonial and Ill be attending for sure. Dont think he will ever get the kind of statue level of legend (unless we won an FA Cup/League Cup with him featuring) but hes up there with the Kevin Ball types for sure.
