It was brilliant, Brooks (the Sheff Utd lad) did very little wrong, was just an excellent save,

I am with you on that one mate. If you are an optimistic dreamer like me the sky is the limit for our club. It leads to disappointment at times but allows me to picture us in all our pomp and glory.
If you were a pragmatic pessimist you may have the dream but are unable to visualise the glory.
Bit like the first half and the second half at Wembley :1980_boogie_down:

    Brighton 8
    Bournemouth 9
    Brentford 10th

Don’t tell me we can’t make a mark (credit to all 3 of those for being brilliantly ran and managed, just like us….)

I was about to post something very similar and you've saved me the job
Moderation in all things, good and bad.

I can see if we are playing well, or badly. What I need is someone to explain to me why we are playing well, or badly. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Is it controversial to say that I think that save is better than the one early in the game? Within the context of the match it's much more important and I think Patto knows where Moore is putting the header so he can get down early (still an unbelievable save mind), whereas he goes the wrong way for the Brooks chance and still saves it

I just find it easier looking for positives when things don’t go our way. Can’t wait for the new season.

It’s maybe bigger. 1-0 with 89 mins is easily recoverable 2-0 second half is a battle.

He's nobody's fool mate, believe me ... someone needs to put their money where their mouth is and step up.

He's asked politely, a dozen times, for some consideration and has been ignored by people who 'have the right to post whatever they choose'. That's fair enough they can but, after all the effort, to see someone open the oven and ruin your meringues, week after week, doesn't encourage you to keep buying eggs.

As I've said posting a negative comment is fine ...

... repeating it a dozen times is just feeding your own self inflated ego.

Having a strop with anyone who mentions it is a bit childish in my opinion.

I have no dog in this fight, I read more than I post, and rarely read or post after a defeat. I will say that this is a discussion forum so every post is valid, not least to the person who posts it. Every day is a school day on this place for me and some of the information people post, especially about stats is excellent.

There are some posts that are repetitive and tedious but I just have a laugh at the ignorance and scroll past, I have let my guard down a couple of times and took the bait, I’m not proud of that and sent myself to the naughty corner as a consequence. Generally, I find that scrolling past anything that I disagree with is cathartic and helps me get over my disappointment when things go against us.

Here’s the but….we won and are in the Premier League next season and yet we are at each others throats. I remember when we beat Wycombe and the main topic afterwards was sharing photos of the day.

This is a massive achievement, much more significant than the Wycombe game, lets celebrate it.

@RTB please carry on with your match day threads, I am sure we all appreciate the time and effort you put in and this place would be a lot worse off if you were to stop.

Cheers to all of you for making this place a haven for Sunderland supporters after a bad result and a place of celebration after a good one

What an absolute shambles this thread has been today and an utter shame as it’s been so valuable to me until last night.

The thread during the match was brilliant. The thread after the match was brilliant. It’s since then that people have let themselves and others down.

That's fair enough but you have to accept that's just your opinion …

… other people seem to disagree.

I’ll say a lot more than we think. It’s not just about individual quality, we are a squad not a team. This squad are still very young and have been together a long time, now. Another year experience they’ve just had together will be massive and they’ll come on bucket loads again for that.

We need to keep them together as much as possible. I’d be okay if we added about 5 first teamers to this squad for next season. I think the momentum and togetherness in the squad would be enough to give us every chance to stay up.

    Totally agree.

Can we call a truce ce now please and get back to the match?

That Luke O’Nien article is brilliant. We have been so lucky to have him at Sunderland. I really felt for him having to come off after 2 mins. Tell you what though, if he’d have stayed on and ended up scoring the winning goal, my head would have exploded.

Couldn’t agree more mate, this should be a thread of pure celebration.

It’s easy to create a thread and takes seconds.

Anyone wanting to talk about how much of a struggle the PL will be, and which dead wood needs shifting, can post one.

They’ll get a much bigger audience, on here, but that’s the kind of thing that derails threads.

    Well said.
