I have posted the PL numbers. You can see the whats, and align them with decisions made + events occurred. Therefore Ange has to go. By the numbers, and by any consistency in how his predecessors were treated by Levy.
The main issue is, when our injuries were at their worst, we basically stopped training for a month to avoid burning out the players we had - and that is what has led to so many disconnected performances in league games because instinct was replacing muscle memory in players so you'd have (to pick a couple of players out of the air) Son running into the position he instinctively did while Udogie was passing into where he'd instinctively pass and there was usually a few yards between A and B While this did have the benefit of allowing us to train for how we were set up in the quarter finals of the Europa onwards as we had (unwittingly) wiped the tactical slate clean, we'd basically scrubbed our tactical plan out of players' minds and muscle memory from March onwards and were coasting in the league on vibes, and that's not remotely sustainable
Wot? 4th best? So you think (presumably) only Liverpool, Arsenal and City have better squads? I'd say Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa too, one could even argue a case for Forest! No way you should have finished 17th, even with all the injuries you had! You are a top 10 squad, but 4th best?? Nah. Not here to bantz either, being serious.
I know that it looks mad because of where we finished but start of the season there’s not a chance anyone would’ve said Forest or Toon had better squads than us. I think Pool, Arsenal and City were the three sides comfortably better than us, then I’d say between us, Villa and yourselves we all have players each team would take. We finished 5th last season don’t forget too, the squad was just so poorly managed this season that we looked a basket case.
I think that it depends on what you mean, to be honest. We've got a lot of good players, but the balance of the squad is poor. I dread to think what sort of teams other sides with our injury problems would've been putting out, too. It's been a weird season. No outstanding defences, various teams and players massively underperforming and an early title. Relegation was virtually done before Christmas, too. It's hard to read too much into the whole mess, for me.
