I love Hume and Cirkin but do worry about them at PL level. Cirkin hasn’t kicked on like I thought he would and Hume isn’t very quick, couldn’t get near Gordon in the cup last year
There's a rumour from the Celtic side that we are one of the teams looking at Daizen Maeda. He's a player i really like, works hard as f**k and is rapid. Can play upfront on the left, would be an option from the right as well Can't see it myself but is the type of forward we should be looking at
I used to have those concerns with Hume as well but he's getting better and better. Reads the game very well and is technically good, I think he would adapt Cirkin is a weird one, 1st couple months of the season I had no worries he would be a PL player but last few months of the season I have concerns now I think we need to sign 2 fullbacks anyway, as hard to rely on Huggins with all his injuries. I'd like a James Justin or Walkers-peters as an option
Celtic with CL football, surely they could keep him if they wanted to? And if they don't want him, little alarm bells go off that maybe we shouldn't either
I thought Hume had some bad games earlier in the season but he’s been superb in the last few months. Such an important player in this side now
Only a few if we are being honest. That doesn’t mean they need to leave, we need depth and rotation options which some of our current XI can become. I personally think we need a new player brought in, in every single position. Need at least two good players for every position. None of this Roberts to Poveda ****e for depth
He's been here a few season now though so not really much else for him to achieve, won everything domestically Plus if they sold him it'll help them reinvest it
Of course, but we need to sign some real quality next season to stand a chance I don't want us signing players just to give us depth, we need real quality and then its up to our current boys to step up There's some players I think will step up - Patterson, Hume, Ballard, Jobe, Le Fee, Mundle and Mayenda I think Cirkin can if he gets his form from the start of the season, Rigg will be better next season as well, I'm not better against O9 tbh as I didn't think he would be a good championship CB but he proven me wrong. Isidor will be a handful, he will be better next season after a year to adapt to English football. Neil has the potential for sure, I thought he had a 2 month period where he was one of/if not the best CM in the league. My concern with Neil is he struggles when teams press him aggressively, this is something that will happen a lot in the PL. He is still young though so I can see him kicking on again
I really dont agree mate. But maybe I am an old fart who thinks the modern game is a bit ****e. How can we love a side as much as we have and then jump to bench most as soon as they get success. It makes playing the game de-motivating. Plus the hardest thing for any coach is to create a team and a squad that is 100% together and committed, not to mention better than the sum of its parts. Signing players is fraught with danger, and the danger spirals as the fees do. If our starting line up next season doesnt have 5 or 6 of the play off team in it I will be a bit ashamed really. And definitely sad. I dont want us to become like the majority of soulless premier league teams. I would rather we keep giving our best young talent the chance to play. It means the best young talent keep joining our academy. We are onto something special with this group. Personally I would hate to lose the connection with them we have. It has been a long long time since we had a squad and fans as connected as we do now, maybe since Reidy, that was a powerful dynamic that went tits up when we started spending big. Lets not assume we havent got something like that rolling here.
I think cirkin is going to step up there was an emotional interview after Saturday where he talks about struggling (mentally I think) and that he wasn’t happy with his performance in the final. his Instagram post just now reads amazing and it certainly sounds like he isn’t finished here. I love the man and at one point he was the best LB in the league. You don’t lose that. Could tell there were issues going on
Some decisions to be made on lots of our players who haven't really been able to show what they can do cos of injuries. I'm thinking seelt, huggins, alese as the main ones. All excellent players but unproven at highest level and , huggins and alese, prone to injuries. We've also got the young striker we signed. There will be a lot of comings and goings this summer. While you can give kids minutes in the championship it's harder in prem especially if u are toiling for points
Understand your points mate but without a few recruits we’d be going down rock bottom. We need to do what we can to stay in the division.
I have no problem at all with bringing in a few lads. We have to, I know that. The thought of 10 for example just doesnt sit well with me. If we can bring in 4 or 5 really good players I will be confident enough. We dont need a revolution, more evolution please. I would bet good money we see progression from Rigg next season to match or better the progression from Jobe this season. Will need his chance to play though, and not as a sub or rotation (rotation not being something I see Regis doing much of)
Let's hope we can get somewhere in the region of 20% in to the deal, even after paying 15% to Birmingham, if he ends up going for similar to jude we could be looking at somewhere between 40-50 million euros in total, not bad for an initial 3 million outlay. I'm sure I heard somewhere KLD and KS didn't have a clue what they are doing
The issue is it's only been in glimpses, those boys need to be playing regularly to reach their potential I think we will loan quite a lot out, get them the experience some of them need to have the best careers possible
I get the Jobe move, he’s a monster and ready for that step however his journey is pre planned, what would have happened if we’d have gone up last year? Because he clearly took a step forward this year but they clearly don’t want him in a most likely to struggle prem side. The fee is most likely pre agreed but a 20% sell on softens it if we can get 25m minimum
Asian and Japanese players are interesting maybe it’s a bit hipster but more of them are appearing in Europe, pretty sure there’s one who made the move to Germany or somewhere on the continent at 26/27 and is going places apparently
