Bree's another one I think is fine for the championship. Funny thing opinions, guess when you're as bad as we've been there's so much to disagree on
I had forgotten about Fraser and Bazunu as well as Taylor and Woods until this afternoon. The only players i would be sad to leave are KWP, Ramsdale, Fernandes and Chucky. I am not fussed by any of the others including Dibling.
I think like that about Aribo, decent enough option in the Champ, but yeah wouldn’t be fussed if he did leave. As has been discussed before on here we likely will have a large amount of the squad who got us promoted last time, so we know they can do it. How much our promotion was down to KWP/Adams/S Armstrong who are the only key players from that squad who definitely won’t be here remains to be seen. So yeah there’s basically nobody in our current squad I’m concerned about for next season, it’s whether or not you want to try and move on some of the ones who definitely aren’t PL level and replace them with players you hope might be. Obviously running the risk the replacements could be complete flops who aren’t even up for a promotion chasing side in the Champ
Adam Blackmore was joking about the sell on value for much of the team during the commentary today. I would be intrigued to see who will have their contracts terminated.
Terminated? I’d hazard a guess at nobody. Not sure who’s contract is expiring apart from KWP, think a lot of the players who were due to be out of contract this summer got extensions.
You do know players have to agree to terminate their contracts unless they've breached the terms of it?
Of course but there must be players like Bereton Diaz who will never get back in the team. I just feel that some probably have little sell on value. The reality will be most of the fringe olayers will be more likely to be loaned out.
But they'll be giving up hundreds of thousands of pounds while finding a new club. Players will (rightly) tell the club to get ****ed if they asked them to rip up their contracts.
I think Armstrong and Stephens were supposed to be but they both got extensions after promotion. A big window ahead, mainly in the out going department. Reckon we could sell 10 and only sign 5 and have a good enough squad. We should hopefully utilise the loan market well again, how much of that was Wilcox I guess we’ll find out. Also Ligue 1 is absolutely ****e outside of PSG with none of the other sides being PL level so Still might know of a few players over there he likes who would be willing to join a Championship club and possibly grow into PL players
Diaz has been excellent at Championshop level before so, now Sheff Utd haven’t gone up, I’d expect him to stay and play a fair bit next year
Given the state of things, I really think that is very harsh on Onuachu. Off the top of my head - Diaz, Bella-Kotchap, Stephens, Smallbone, Sulemana, Fraser and Bazunu are all ahead of him for the door. I have left off Archer and Stewart as I think they might be able to do something for us next season, but Onuachu has done more than both of them this season.
Next summer is the big one for contracts expiring - 10 of them. Who will we look to cash in on this summer, and who will we think has more value being retained for one final year and hopefully a promotion push? McCarthy, Stephens, Bree, Taylor, ABK, Aribo, Smallbone, Fraser, Stewart, Onuachu.
I might be wrong, but I'm not aware that Sheff Utd's option agreement is dependent on what division they're in next season. In which case, I'd suggest that their failure yesterday should increase the chances of them signing him - if they can afford the fee (I think it's £10m?). He's clearly of more value as a Championship player than a PL player.
Was thinking more that they can’t afford him/we wouldn’t want to sell him to a division rival but didn’t know they had an official option which means it’s out of our hands
My three would be - 1 - ABK (all the talent, all the bad attitude. Stinks the place out) 2 - Bazunu (so we're not tempted to play him) 3 - TP (he isn't a footballer)
