Yes - my youngest and her mates thought they had an Airbnb in Majorca sorted but it's now fallen through ... which is a relief tbh ...
I was reading an article a couple of days ago, about a woman who over 20 years ago bought a place in Fuerteventura, but 18 years in Brexit happened and she was proper cursing, because it meant unless she applied for a residence visa she could only stay 90 days out of 180. Anyways as a result she sold up the property, however she went back a few years later for a hols, and stayed near where her old gaff used to be - and by now all this anti tourist stuff was evident, so much so she even saw a sign that said 'kill a tourist' - to which she said she was glad now she had sold. In her case it's how fate worked out and in the longer run it did her a favour. Thing is once all these tourists go, they will have to find new ways of being self sufficient, because Brits will just go elsewhere, somewhere they are welcome. Although I do see it from the Spaniards point of view as well, especially with airbnb, it's all just got a bit too much and can be detriment to local cultures.
think its to do with airbnb personally. Theres definitely a lack of supply of housing being built (how much can be built on an island?). Hotels is one thing but when all the local accomodation is being bought out and then let out as airBNBs over renting it out to the local community so that everyones rents are increasing i can see why they would be pissed off even though they need these tourists to go there too as that is what provides income to their island.

Just tell them you've got one in Loch Lomond, Scotland (it's the best place to own one), or ask them to pay you.
I never did grotty. I did the Costas, the Grief, Gran Canaria and Calpe. Calpe was the land of the lay-down, didn't need to pitch, just give an invite and they'd find their way in, no gift needed. It was OPC paradise with an uncountable amount of wrecked hire cars that summer. The owner owned half the town, so any time we got arrested by the cops for being dicks we'd say 'Jo trabajando para snr Roco', they'd take us to the resort to check, and just let us go. After that I ****ed off to Ibiza, did a bit there then found something else to do.
lol, I did some lining in Ibiza when I got there, part of my pitch was showing them the Airtours resort 'look, it's Airtours'. Instant legitimacy. Had a pretty good record with sales, but it was Ibiza, work at 10 AM? most of the time I couldn't get there until after 1 and was absolutely hanging when I got there.
Big recco for Porto if anyone wants a cheap and easy few days away. Dirt cheap for drinkers, easy to walk anywhere, great food, not completely swarmed by Brits/stags or ****s in general.
Just got back from two weeks in France. They love us Brits there. Seemed to like me anyway, but then I do try and parlez-vous a bit of the lingo. Plus, herself is French, although the French don’t really seem to like France all that much. Strange bunch, great food though…
