Neither of whom were selected today …

… the transfer strategy, at the club, is fine.

I def wouldn't call them tragic, yes they might not have improved us immediately but can't call them tragic when we signed 3 stand out played in those 2 windows - Jobe, Mayenda and Mundle

There is a section of our fanbase who think that we are the only club that signs duffers. We’re not. Every club does. I’ll bet that even Alex Ferguson made signings that he regretted.

Ferguson made loads of them tbf

Signing players is tough as you never know how they'll fit into the squad, league etc no matter how much research you do

The 2 windows in question has brought us some very good players, I mentioned the 3 obvious ones as they were probably worth a combined 50 million before yesterday's game - now we are a PL club you could probably add another 15 million to that.

Then we have talented lads like Triantis, Hjelde and Seelt who have all shown glimpses and by all accounts improved the dressing. Adil and pembele we will likely receive some money for

We just got the balance wrong the summer window before last season, the players aren't tragic but the balance was off

Fancy having a chairman with a plan, whether it's 5 years or not.
Unlike our previous Incumbents who didn't know the difference between a football/rugby ball then to see that plan bearing fruit is a beautiful sight to behold.

An exciting summer ahead is a complete understatement.

Was a brave and admirable plan. To go with players with limited or no senior football. Especially here where expectations are huge and at times there’s impatience. The way football has gone though, sustainability is crucial and this is a unique and brave way to achieve it whilst maintaining on field success.

I was a supporter of speakman, then after last season, I thought the level of mistakes he made he could go for me. I was wrong, KLD was right. Speakman, whether you like him or not, is probably the most key appointment in the time I’ve been old enough to watch us.

Can’t wait to see what they do this summer. Hell of a challenge, and got to be so sensible with what they do. But they’ve got my trust.

I hope Speakman receives a pretty sizeable bonus or pay rise. Or both.

That’s if he hasn’t already of course doesn’t strike me the L-D family are the type to not reward success.

Absolutely but really we need to make sure he’s not poached. Some huge clubs must be looking at the work he’s done. If I was man United he’d be on my radar. We need him for a few more years yet

The plan led to us fielding the youngest player ever in a Championship final, the youngest ever starting eleven in a final, the second and third youngest scores in a final and the only team to start a final with zero premier league starts in the starting eleven.

Who was it who said you never win anything with kids?

There wasn’t really an adjustment. The only genuine ‘adjustment’ player (Browne) was basically ****e all season and will likely get moved on ASAP. Ah well. Doesn’t matter now so it’s not a subject we need to revisit. The club ultimately got it right and we’re up:emoticon-0103-cool:

Moore? Mepham? Isidor? Samed? Le Fee?

All of those had a lot more experience than the signings in the previous summer, there was clearly an adjustment.

We’ve signed players with that level of experience before. And of the ones that actually contributed didn’t give us a step change in experience. Mepham and Isidor had basically played the same number of games as Rusyn and Ballard. But yeah you’ve been absolutely bang on all season pal:emoticon-0105-wink:

(I can’t keep it up. Haway the ****ing lads and I hope you’ve got a well-earned hangover you miserable bassa:emoticon-0115-inlov)

Exactly. Bollocks are dropped all the time in transfers, by every club. It will always happen, but our strike rate is now absurdly high, both in quality, temperament, age and price. Even those who didn't crack it here wern't useless , it just didn't work, and there is time for one or two of the others.

By light years, we now have the best people looking for players we have had in my time. And I can remember us getting relegated in 69/70.

I was saying to a couple of lads in the bar after the win that I genuinely believe we as a club are on the cusp of greatness.

I think they need credit for the off field side of the Business like retail and the Media Team have been first class , with these last two weeks being a joy to watch .. The re connection with the fans has been carefully and professionally managed. I'm sure they will now improve the ticketing side of things ,it takes time to fix the shambles they bought into ...
