I read Spurs have offered 12 mill for Evans and yet he is 16. I also read you cant sign professional terms until you are 17, hence Monga can just walk away although we would get a tribunal fee. Don't understand the difference.

Last night I watched the new club release featuring Matt Piper and thoroughly enjoyed it. I listen to him a lot on the When your'e smiling podcast and generally agree with most things he says. I knew he was last scorer at Filbert St and that he ran an Academy but his frank description of his spiral into addiction was really interesting.

I certainly hope so, at least that would be one highlight of the season.

Maybe if Monga got more game time he would show that he understands that football is a team game. In his brief appearances so far he seems to think he has to make an impact to get himself noticed. I think his approach today actually cost us the chance to win the game.

I'm thinking of contacting the club to ask them to give me an away ticket every game next season as I have been to 5 away games this season and not seen us lose <laugh>

One potential unforeseen positive for next season is Harry Souttar, provided he makes a full recovery from his ruptured achilles tendon ...

Was exceptional for Sheff Unuted un the Championship this season this up until his injury and if we also have Nelson and Okoli that gives us 3 particularly good centre-backs by Championship standards and possibly beyond.

Stories of Nelson going because we need the money. I would rather Hermansen and Bil El went and we bult again around our own home-grown talent. The last three games have given me a sense of o what could have been but at least we should be competitive next season.

    Tell me it's not true!

Leicester City are poised to sack manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and are in advanced talks to appoint former Southampton boss Russell Martin. (Football Insider)

... lot of ridiculous speculation in the Press tbf ... with PSR bollocks, not sure we can afford to sack Ruud anyway...

Rob Dorsett was reporting this yesterday, so far less speculative. I think we may have had a mutual release agreement in the event of relegation rather than an expensive sacking.

If that's the case, you'd think given the weeks it's been know we could search for someone different to Martin.

Actually, sack that given our recent record of proper planning!

I don't understand how we could even be linked with Russell Martin. What did he do last season that makes him a desirable candidate? Has Sean Dyche ruled himself out?

I think we all agree that it is vital for the club that they get the appointment of our next manager/coach right. It could determine where we are as a club 5 years from now. But who is actually out there who sticks out as a candidate? I don't have a name to offer but what I would like to see is a young ambitious manager/coach (maybe currently second in command somewhere and not necessarily from this country) that knows how to put a team together and who can devise a way of playing that the team are capable of carrying out instinctively and effectively. I don't want another Maresca type who wants players to be robots. I want to see players bonding as a team and developed into intelligent hard workers who understand the game and who are capable of making their own decisions as long as it is to the benefit of the team, rather than ones that are forced into playing to a rigid pattern. I want to see players being given individual responsibility so that at the end of the season we have a team that is far ahead of the rest of the Championship and have the confidence and belief that they are good enough to play in the Premier League. All very idealistic, I know, and it would be nice to think that the selection committee would consist of at least one person who has the experience and knowledge of management and coaching to appoint our next manager/coach. We might have to keep some of the good professionals (like Ayew) at the club to make this stuff gel together in the dressing room and act as mentors to the younger players, but it might pay dividends in the longer term.

I really don’t want Russel Martin, his style seemed identical to Marescas when we were in the championship. Lee Carsley would be my choice, but what do we know? How many of us were optimistic when Ranieri was appointed?
If it’s the same collective who are in charge of the transfer policy then God help us.

So the dust finally settles on a season that became rather depressingly predictable after the sale of KDH, the unfortunate injury to Fatawu and the underwhelming and wholly inadequate recruitment (El Khanouss apart) ...

Lots of gloom monkeys now predicting our imminent demise as the PL / EFL seek to make examples of us for exposing their ineptitude... but:

It's not guaranteed that they will succeed given us having Nick De Marco in our corner and, even if there is a points deduction, that is not necessarily insurmountable...

Our business model will have to change - indeed is changing - and so will more than half of the Prem - unless a change to the anti-competition laws are brought in ...

The Investment in Seagrave is paying off as the emergence of genuine young talent demonstrates - 6 academy lads got minutes on the pitch yesterday with another on the bench - 3 more are back from a season's EFL experience and in Harry Souttar there is a centre half who was excelling in the Championship before his injury...

We can afford to sell the deadwood and even Hermandsen and El Khanouss (the latter hopefully not) and still have an incredibly good squad with a mix of experience - Pereira, Souttar, Justin, Skipp, Couliballly, Ayew, Thomas (Choudhry) and Fatawu... and some really talented kids coming through.

Reckon we'll surprise a few people ... keep the faith!!! <cheers>
