Starmer certainly ain't the most charismatic PM this country has ever had (by some distance) - but he does seem to be quietly getting things done ...
First thing I seen when I looked at the BBC news It’s clear from the figures that the big falls in net migration are down to both restrictions on visas introduced by the outgoing Conservative administration and a delayed effect of the pandemic. The near halving of the numbers includes a big increase in the number of people emigrating from the UK to another country. There have been big falls in the number of people coming to work and study - and there’s been a fall in the number of students bringing family members with them. That was a key objective of changes that tightened visas, introduced by both Suella Braverman and James Cleverly, the last Tory home secretaries
Quietly repairing the disastrous economic damage caused by Brexit Quietly addressing asylum / migration issues Quietly shifting the burden of taxation to the much better off in our society ... and actually listening and being amenable to changing policies if its the right thing to do - hence more Pensioners likely qualifying for the Winter Fuel Allowance and hopefully only those that really don't need it losing it ...
Nope ... nor Conservative... but have certainly admired and have had time for individual politicians like Ken Clarke and John Smith... My vote has always been based on the manifesto of individuals standing in the constituencies in which I have lived, never blindly along party lines ... Maybe that's just me ...
****ing disgrace. These are not the offenders we should be bailing out. Car thieves, Burglars and all the other petty criminals… yeah a lot of them shouldn’t be serving time. They’re in a cycle now they’ll remain in until we learn to rehabilitate them in the community instead of banging them up with proper criminals with no proper reintegration into society. Not sure why we would release violent offenders and sex cases out early. Violent prisoners, including those convicted of sex offences and domestic abuse, could be released after serving just a third of their sentence in a bid to ease prison overcrowding, under new recommendations made in a landmark review.
It sends out the wrong message, doesn’t it… If anyone has grievances to sort out, now is the time. Putting someone in a hospital bed with serious injuries now has a 66% discount tag on it. That’s the way these people will look at it.
World leaders would have to be insane to take up their invite to the Oval Office, in future. It’s a trap
