I thought he came across really well, particularly towards the end. He admitted mistakes and said he would change things for his next role.
Yeah, I do like RM, and I do wish it turned out better than it did. Now that the anger/annoyance/whatever of his final weeks has subsidised a little at least
Tbf, apart from a few very strange interviews he mainly spoke very well. Needed to adapt at the higher level & showed no willingness to; that’s what annoyed me the most. Yeah big shame. A massive “if only”. Gone now tho.
He managed the team that lost 1-4 at home to them, 0-5 away, then were 2-0 in front and lost 2-3 but they saw something....and Saints fans moan about our appointments.
i kind of get it from their perspective. He has got a relegated side promoted in their first season before and, something I think is a big factor, he is free. Leicester are clearly broke, so out of all the currently unemployed managers that would join Leicester, he is one of the best options.
I wonder if Leicester have told him it’s a two-year focus, given the points deduction and scale of the rebuild there. Can see how that would appeal to him after the Saints experience
Why ? I agree with what some people have said previously . In the right circumstances , RM will do really well . IF has has become flexible in his thoughts , and has a good squad , he will do well . If he can get them straight back up , which I think he can and will , then he could do well in the PL . Just think . Next year there might be two ex Saints managers who could take 12 points off us .
Didn't he do an interview/appearance on Sky(?) where he said the problem at Saints was that he compromised too much?
He's an egotistical, gaslighting narcissist that hasn't learned a jot. As Puck said, he was on Sky saying the mistake he made was he compromised too much. He genuinely believes that we're all just a bit basic not to recognise his innate genius. I don't like him as a result, but that's just my feelings. You can crack on being gaslit if you like!
As I’ve said from pretty much game 1 with Martin, he will do well provided he has a good team for the league he is in. Leicester will have a top 6 squad next season so I’d expect him to do well regardless of whatever deduction they get The question will be if he gets them promoted if he’s learnt anything from his time with us, my guess is he hasn’t
I don't think Martin will last at Leicester and believe the points deduction will mean play offs at best. Just feel that the 3 teams that go up next campaign will be diffucult to preduct. Not convinced it will include Saints or Ipwich either. I am envisaging a very competitve and compelling campaign. It will be really entertaining.
Is there any talk yet of what the point deduction might be? So far it’s not like teams have had huge deductions for this stuff (Forest -2 and Everton -4 was it in the end and was their second offence) If Leicester start on anything less than -10 I’d still fancy them to go up
Rumoured to be -14 as they severely broke the rules (£120m over the allowed £80m loss threshold and missed the accounts deadline too). They won't be able to spend this season and don't have many to sell either. I think they will really struggle, especially as Martin is useless if he doesn't have players for his system
I'm actually a bit surprised Leicester have gone for him. I don't particularly love or hate the guy and I agree he suits a team that's better than most in their division so he may do well with them this season. But if they do go up I'd be astonished if he was able to keep them up.
