Suga as well by the sounds of it. If he stays then Suga and Bree should be fine for next season, I don’t want to see Bree play in the PL again though, his lack of athleticism at the top flight is so obvious
Turkish “deals” are always full of £ promise but very rarely deliver. Just read that back & I’m now peckish for a Turkish Delight.
Ha! I’d really only want one or 2x of our present squad playing for us in the premier league again. Maybe 3 but jeez, very limited.
This is largely based on Football Manager and in reality there are probably a lot of different ways it happens, but I've always assumed an option to buy is essentially just an agreed fee between the clubs and you only get a full contract agreement with the player when there's an obligation to buy. An option isn't worthless because you agree a potential fee and the selling club can't jack up the price if the player does better than expected while on loan. When we signed Danny Ings on loan I remember the details of his future contract were also reported by some of the press and I don't think I've ever seen that when there's only an option to buy.
Exactly, it’s time to get back to the very basics of recruitment. Buy players from the championship team of the season or players who have won player of the seasons at their respective clubs. Players who are in form in this league. When we were in league one we simply bought the league.
Manning and Ross Stewart proof that it's more difficult in the Championship (and even harder to then make the step up) and the best players go for £££ but agree that we need to look at players on an upward trajectory
Manning has done quite well this season to be fair and I can see him doing well next season providing we don't play suicidal Russball. The jury is still out on Stewart. It really depends on if he can stay fit or not. I'm also not Sure how many Championship games he had played with Sunderland due to Injury but I'm pretty sure it was mainly league one football he played with them.
He scored a goal a game in the Champ for Sunderland, albeit that was only in about ten games or so before he got injured. Still impressive though.
Yeah, it is hard to criticise his ability considering he scored 26 goals in their promotion season and then started the next on fire as well. If we get the pre-injury Stewart he will be class. That is a rather large if though, so we of course can't rely on him.
May aswell do the full Newsnow round up: ABK linked to Goztepe We are being linked with a move for Rak-Sakyi again after we tried the last couple of summers. Palace apparently willing to let him go after an average loan spell with Sheff Utd Kaine Kessler Hayden set to sign for Coventry Being linked with James Penrice who is also wanted by West Brom, 26 year old left back from Hearts
Rumour roundup: Saints after Yahia Fofana, keeper from Angers. Wolves and Newcastle allegedly interested as well. Mateus Fernandes is wanted by Leeds, and they are willing to spend “almost £30m” to get a deal done Leeds also want KWP when his contract expires
Never heard of him, but it pleases me if we are being linked to GKs. No chance we sell Fernandes for less than £30m and imagine he'd want to go to a more established PL club and not another newly promoted/relegation candidate anyway. Not that it matters to us where KWP chooses to go since he's on a free, but again, would think he would have his sights set above a newly promoted club and will likely have quite a few suitors. Can see him wanting to stay south too.
Surely we don't need to sell Matty anyway? Just imagine the total ****ing dross we'd be left with after selling our one decent player. It's Alcaraz all over again
