I do not understand your point. Brexit meant more immigration in numbers never previously seen in the history of Britain? The Unions of the 70/80's would have opposed mass migration undercutting wages and working conditions. Mass migration of the magnitude of the last twenty five years is a phenom. The Unions now? They are a differing thing.

As for Argentina They’ve got a new guy in charge who has slashed the size of the state and who has done a mini DOGE Long gone are the days of food shortages, mass unemployment and inflation at 25% Their country and economy are now doing very nicely It only took decades to find someone who could see it for what is was and to end the absolute corruption
No I agree people working in care should get paid more, I was questioning how it will be paid for. I dont think people realise how much more they will have to pay to access a basic level of care

I will answer that please ... Diving in with two feet and studs up. To pay care workers an extra pound an hour the state would have to spend? Two pounds? How much does the NIC hike cost social care? How much does illegal immigration cost the state? Government has launched a raid on social care and has taken money out, rather than putting money in. Government has launched a tax raid on private schools, OAPS, and Farmers, and is cutting benefits. What is Government not cutting, illegal immigration. Billions are being spent and this spending is increasing. Immigration is costing the state gigantic sums of money every year. The majority of immigrants who come to the UK do not come to work. And we are financing their support. The majority of visas issued do not go to those who work, the majority of visas issued to those who are going to work do not go to those with high skills, they are ging to the low skilled. My own industry was importing thousands of workers to keep the wages of its domestic workforce dirt cheap, and these workers in the hundreds of thousands are not a net gain to the economy, they take money out. Stop importing low skilled labour and people who are not coming here to work who are a fiscal drain on our economy. Diving in studs up again .. And this would apply to foreign nationals. Foreign nationals who claim more benefits, and commit more crime than people born in this Country. Stop this now. Government always has choices. We our Country can act in the best interests of the people who were born and live here, who should come first and foremost.
Clifton you clearly have a deep knowledge of the sector, and I assume you work in it and I applaud your service. Personally I have no problem at all with immigration provided they can support themselves through work or wealth. I have personal family experience of an elderly relative who was cared for by immigrant care workers in is home. Probably low paid but they were diligent and very caring and kind. What I do have problems with is lazy people who milk the system. Immigrants or UK citizens. Only last night I was told of one young lad (British) who has fathered two children with different mothers in the space of 2 months and is contributing zero to either of them and having nothing to do with them. Another chap ( also British ) who has hidden away £20k in his partners bank and is claiming as much universal credit as he can. Now I agree that the government are not taxing all of the right people or businesses but I am sure the organisations you are involved with could do with that cash the government are paying out to the two mothers and the lazy sod who is cheating the system with Universal Credit.
Fantastic thanks mate Last stop today in Gibraltar which is not at all what I expected Despite all pub names being English (Lord Nelson, Horseshoe, the Royal etc) but most of the staff are Spanish and Spanish is the predominant language on the street apart from the tourists But a great place, a really great cruise, and loads of wonderful memories Leaving in 2 hours and back in Liverpool on Saturday morning
Raver, I agree with almost everything you say except for 'no problem at all with immigration'. I do. Nearly 2million have turned up here in the last 2 years and we wonder why we need more houses. Green fields are being taken up at alarming rate with zero necessary infrastructure. 600 homes are in construction in just a small area of Midsomer Norton and not ONE home is less than £300,000. How that helps kids getting on the ladder I'll never know but the traffic twice a day is regularly in gridlock......and the Lord help us when the 600 homes are complete.
What was Amalfi and italian stop offs like this is a cruise i still want to do the itinerary looks spot on. The best part of the rock was the monkeys and a bit British heritage apart from that underwhelming.
Most of the bar workers are Spanish and they cross the border every day to work in Gib. The official language is English, although most residents are bilingual. On the street, the locals speak a strange mix of Spanish and English - mainly Spanish with a few English words/phrases thrown in. They have a saying: ‘British we are and British we’ll stay - We speak Spanish all of the day!’
Didn’t go to the top of the rock we stayed down below The Amalfi coast is stunning Salerno is a bit tired looking but is quiet, Sorrento is buzzing with people and the smell of Lemons everywhere Olbia in Sardinia was also lovely but there’s not a vast amount there Propriano in Corsica was one of the loveliest places I’ve ever been Tangier is depressing with hungry cats and people trying to scratch a living from tourists just to survive I’d do it all again apart from Tangier
Been to Sorrento. Went into a pub there saying English beers. They had Carling for €5 or Peroni for €3.50. Don’t think they realise that we pay extra for Peroni not to drink Carling over here. Like you said lemon smell everywhere and lots of places decorated lemon yellow. Loved it there, apart from we went mid August. Now I’ve been to hot places, but it was boiling there plus they were having a heatwave there at the time. We found out why it was cheaper to holiday there in August than other months. It was so hot that in the all inclusive hotel we was staying the waiters brought bottles of water and ice cream around and virtually insisted on you drinking/ eating it in front on them. Did you get chance to go to Capri there?
