I'd say Nozzer because I don't want to be locked up in his basement. However, he's since admitted he was wrong do hopefully I've escaped this time....
I do find it strange that we're in for quality players that have low release clauses (Frimpong, Kerkez, Cherki) without much competition for their signature... Here comes Chelsea
Several sources saying we've submitted a bid for Wirtz, Kicker being one of them with some saying Kicker is a good source for German football - Nozzer to confirm.
We're in a better position than alot of other clubs perhaps? Players finally want to join us, instead of using us a bargaining tool. And our caution with finances coming out of the covid years have probably put in a better state than alot of our competition. Kerkez has practically already joined in his head by the looks of it, so what would be the point in other clubs attempting to bid on him
According to Kicker, Wirtz and his parents have met with Bayern, City and us. He's going to make a decision before the clubs negotiate a price, so no bids have gone in. Leverkusen want €150 million.
City apparently out the running. still think will end up at Bayern and just using us/city to up the interest a bit - would be brilliant and in theory Leverkusen probably prefer to sell to us so may even be willing to talk a bit less than Bayern offering.
Yep, just saw that on the BBC. Apparently balking at the cost, up to €300m in transfer fees and wages.
Cunha to United pretty much done. Good signing for them in that system where play 2 10’s behind striker
Can’t see it being near that. I’m assuming that’s based on a transfer fee of 150m which was being talked about. That’s then 150m contract over 5 years which is 570k a week. Bayern aren’t paying that, we aren’t paying anywhere close to that.
So let's play the numbers game again. Foreign Players 1. Alisson. 2. Marmadashvilli 3. Konate 4. Vvd 5. Kerkez* 6. Robertson/tsimikas (who stays?) 7. Gravenberch 8. Endo/replacement* 9. Macallister 10. Szoboszlai 11. Diaz 12. Gakpo. 13. Salah. 14. Striker 1.* 15. Striker 2.* 16. Chiesa/replacement 17. Spare slot. Home Grown Players 1. Jaros/Davies (CT and depends on loans) 2. Bradley (CT) 3. Frimpong* (assc) 4. Gomez (CT and depends on him) 5. Quansah (CT) 6. Jones (CT) 7. Elliott (CT) 8. Bajcetic??? Leaving: Kelleher Morton One left full. Endo? Nunez? Jota?? Chiesa? Ramsay Phillips Williams Doak It seems to me there's scope here to make some decisions. There is an element of one in and one out for some positions which is natural and to be expected but there is also score to retain either first traders or squad players depending on what the club decides. There's room to buy one more foreign player here for sure. We could replace or keep endo if we really want to (we'd be mad imo) Slot might move Szoboszlai back and put someone new at 10 (not for 150mil) Slot might replace chiesa or give him preseason. Slot might retain one striker and sell another to get the proper 9 in. Slot might move one lb. Who knows. We know Robertson has 12 months left and is expensive so who knows. Will we move Elliott on? We might need an english/ hg addition then. Whatever happens with the assumed additions at the back the age profile there improves and with midfield quite decent if lacking depth it does bring us back to striker as my no 1 priority to improve the first 11.
I'm not really saying we have. I'm just saying we will be balancing it out and playing the game to.give ourselves more scope over time It's not about next years accounts par se (or this seasons if you like) it's about spreading things over rolling 3 year cycles so we can help ourselves in a couple seasons time potentitally
yeah but if we do that we never "help ourselves" and now is the time to spend as we need better depth in the squad .
Yeah but maybe buying those two now, perhaps on nice installments will enable a big post July 1 buy? Who knows.
wouldn't make any difference pre or post July 1st unless we are in yet another new version of "FFP" rules
