There’s some ****in creating blame shifting going on in here <laugh>

It’s all Hamas’ fault that Israel have slaughtered 50k+ civilians just going about their business and trying to live their lives.

reminds me of the abusive husband who batters his missus and then says she had it coming coz she answered back.

It's pretty difficult to escape the fact that those 50,000 people would still be alive today if Hamas hadn't done what it did on Oct 7th.

    Bollocks.
I will use an analogy i have used before to explain this (probably not the best but it fits)

Years ago the IRA (a terrorist/freedom fighter group) were bombing England, their members were being sheltered/hidden by sympathisers in Belfast.
Take that scenario to today, would anyone be happy if we bombed the **** out of Belfast and killed thousands of it's population? would they **** and the World would have reacted to that but Israel get a free pass because they are a protected species because of something really bad tha happened to them 80 years ago.
Shame they learnt **** all from the suffering of their ancestors.

The world would be scratching their heads if we wiped Belfast off the map…. They would just see it as some sort of civil war going on.

In your analogy comparing it to the troubles, the IDF bomb the **** out of Tel Aviv where some Palestinians are living. The world would just laugh at that.

... or at least 35,000 would be if Israel hadn't been so indiscriminate in it's 'defensive' retaliation ... spin it however you like, the deliberate targeting of hospitals, schools, mosques and refugee camps is, quite frankly, plain disgusting ...

The IRA didn't exist to bring about the complete destruction of mainland Britain and death of every man, woman and child therein.

There is no analogy to be made.

Although I do often wonder how things would have been had the Troubles played out in our era of social media and global internet access.

Lineker’s job is now deemed untenable after his antisemitic post the other day.

This guy should have been fired a long time ago. Him and his left wing agenda, won’t be missed.

There is no response to October 7th that would’ve been acceptable to Hamas sympathisers other than turning the other cheek and getting on with it.

Oooh you can’t kill that Hamas guy now he’s run over there. You’ll have to wait for him to just be alone in an open field with nothing for miles around. Oooh no not with pagers that minimise risk to civilians, you have to fight our perfect wet wipe war even if the other side are dedicated to wiping you off the planet and have just killed 1200 and taken a load of hostages.

No problem with you fighting terrorists ... especially in defence ... not so comfortable with your ideas of 'acceptable' collateral damage ... when it comes to women and children ...

Yes, the perfect wet wipe war that has never existed and only applies to Israel.

The problem is though, that flattening Gaza along with 50k civilians in the hope that it would crush Hamas was never going to work. Folk said that from the off, that if you go and start killing people aimlessly then it will just bolster Hamas, who'll recruit more and more young men who've seen their kids blown to bits. It just validates the notion that Israel are out to wipe you off the planet, so you might as well take up arms and fight to the death.

You also have to remember that Netanyahu helped to create this monster this is Hamas, because they along with him, never wanted a two state solution or any kind of peace. It suited him to have Hamas in control, so that the PA could never gain the traction to form a unity Govt in Gaza and the West Bank, and he actively supported their rise and ensured that they controlled the narrative in Gaza.

Israel had the moral backing after Oct 7th. And if they really wanted to dismantle Hamas, they would have taken out their leaders and then cut off the funding (which Netanyahu has allowed for decades) via Qatar. They probably could have even got most Gazans on side if they'd have lifted blockades and started improving the lives of ordinary people there. They could have worked with the PA and the international community on this, to remove Hamas by starving them of money and resources and implementing a governing body that people could see were giving Gazans a much better life than Hamas.

But Bibi doesn't want any of this. Because he is a warmonger who does not want to see Palestine enabled, and he is propped up by ultra nationalist fascists who see Palestine as their 'God given' right to own.

So what has this war achieved ? Israel still don't have their hostages back, Gaza is flattened, Hamas are still in control, 50k civilians are dead, and the cycle of hatred has just been amplified for another generation.

Yeah but maths and stuff <doh> ... what that doesn't tell is the numbers of life changing injuries to civilians ...

Worst one for me is where displaced civilians have been directed to 'safe zones' which have then been targeted and hit ...
