Women's game has a huge domestic problem to over come soon. Currently there are too many One Horse leagues, too easy for one club to buy dominance ala Chelsea. They've had the initial growth following exposed international tournaments, but to maintain that (especially in domestic leagues) they need proper competition instead of one team expected to win everything before the season kicks off. If they don't I can't see them gaining many more fans, the curiosity factor has gone now they need the product itself to be interesting.
They have allowed and enabled a doper league that is now utterly irrelevant. By all means give the men's clubs some ffp to enable the female game but they have allowed doping on a grand scale now to try get someone to "catch up" in Europe and they will kill the interest.
List of teams who have had a better season than Arsenal. Liverpool Newcastle Crystal Palace. Spurs or man utd Cheslea (let's fact it they will walk the final) Congratulations to the best team in the champions league and Premier league for having the 6th best season in England.
Liverpool yea Newcastle if get Cl yes Palace - can argue that one. What’s better - fa cup win or CL? Will always cause debate. Spurs or a united - again, a trophy and CL so I guess yes, but over the course of 9 months, Arsenal fans will have enjoyed their team Far more.
Simple answer, any trophy is fsr better than no trophy. When Brighton win a cup and finish 12th you might see some scenes there. Newcastle fans will never top thst league cup feeling. Not when they buy titles and whatever else. Palace fans have had the.most massive day of their lives. Just qualifying qualifying Europe and all thingy and whiny? That's a **** season and entitled too imo. Arteta is a bad loser
They removed Wenger for just that. Constant top4 but stopped winning things, so was seen as not good enough. How long has Arteta got, he's won 1 trophy and sent an absolute fortune to be 2nd. And now looks like they want to spend another fortune this summer, Arsenal fans don't have a leg to stand on in talk about Chelsea or City about buying the league, when they've been trying to do if for the last 4 years.
Is fluking a watered-down EL going to take the taste away from all that dross they've both served up this season? Probably better than nothing as you say, but I'd be more positive for the future if I was an Arsenal fan. Piss-taking aside, Arsenal are only a tweak or two away from competing, ManU and Spurs have serious issues.
Yes, still better than 2nd. Btw, I'd say yes the lyon game would suggest utd have fluked this one quite a bit but hey. The winner will have a major European trophy I've heard a lot of entitled Arsenal fans bemoan their luck and arrogantly state they were going to do this that and the other all season. Going to hammer Newcastle, promptly lose at home. Cone out saying they'd win away. Lose again. Bound to best psg lose. Will beat psg in Paris and so forth and so on. They not enjoyed on bit of this season. All excuses and arrogance and they will be on about winning everything in a week's time again. I really hope spurs win it as their fans might actually appreciate it (I doubt it but you'd hope)
I know you'd be the same as me and pick finishing second and enjoying the season. However, in a couple of years time, no one will remember that. The record books will just show the end results and Spurs/Man Utd will have 'a better season' on paper.
I suppose it come down what we mean by "had a better season". In one sense, a trophy is better than none but no-one in their right mind can claim either of those two are a better team than Arsenal.
Well, the way it's looking the record books will probably show that we won the league with a fairly low points total, and few people in the future will look any deeper and see that it was all over with 4 games to go. But those of us who followed it will know how well the season went and won't be swayed by those stats. Similarly, people who know the game will understand that the current Arsenal team is streets ahead of the other two. I just think it's laughable that a team just above the relegation places can qualify for the CL. I mean, we got enough stick for being in it having finished 5th, and we were the holders.
Interesting game brewing for next week; Forest Vs Chelsea... Potentially, the winner gets CL football but they need one of the others to slip up too.
Nobody did. I merely stated arteta's own boasts about his team and then said they had the 6th best season Premier league champions Fa cup winners League cup winners Europa league winners (maybe as high as 2nd?) Conference league winners 2nd in the the prem And so on. No arsenal fan will want to remember this season. Newcastle and palace fans will never forget. Hopefully spurs fans will never forget it too Yes no Chelsea fans will be bothered but you can't legislate for that level of arrogance and entitlement. (Exactly the same as people who don't think last season was a good lfc season, we won something last year)
Honestly can't call that game. The scenario suits Chelsea better but Jackson is a huge part of their game plan and will be missed.
My wild guess is forest to have 30% possession and it to end 0-0 and we will all have to hear about how brave forest were despite absolutely throwing it away in the final 5 games.
Hasn't Arteta spent £700m for no return ie trophies. How can their fans enjoy the diving, whinging, moaning, feigning injury, cheating, surrounding the ref, excuses excuses etc.? I don't watch their games but I do read other fan forums and it seems, for all the talent in that team, Arteta has turned them into a thoroughly dislikeable bunch. When Saka, for example, broke through, I thought what a great young player but the longer he's been in the team the more the falling down antics have upped up to the point of him being almost unwatchable. Not just him in that team, he's just the one I was most impressed with before he was Arteted.
A lot of their fans are pretty disillusioned with what's going on, I think if they were simply dumped out by Real Madrid there would be a lot more heat right now.
