Think I'm in a minority of not wanting bednarek to leave.. Think he is pretty decent and has basically been exposed by mental high line ultra press football under a string of managers with no one very good next to him.

He is certainly better than any of our other CBs at actual defending and does a lot of blocking and duels that can go unnoticed.

Given that Goztepe are part of our little gang, if we are looking to sign him, you would think we might at least be in pole postion. I guess it depends on if he wants to come here.

 

I am no multi club model expert, but surely we face no competition at all if we actually want him?

The only issue would of course be if he didn't want to come ?

Otherwise, what is the point of it?

I edited my post as not clear, I didn’t mean on loan from us to Goztepe, I meant on loan from some other club to Goztepe.

It is, but my understanding is Goztepe have an option to buy him which they are going to activate, and then sell him in the same window.

The only way I can see us pulling the multi club card is if we say the only bid we’re are accepting for you is from Saints so your options are stay at Goztepe or leave to Saints. There are lots of reasons this could backfire so I doubt SR would want to do that

 

I'd imagine they'd frame it that going to Saints as being a best step in the pathway to end up at a top PL side. We are known for developing and selling on to top clubs so a couple of years with us could be seen as a good move for him.

 

Yeah I’d think they would want him to go to Saints if they think he can help us. Not sure who else he has been linked to but if he prefers a move there then we don’t have much of a chance.

Where did Goztepe finish? If they are in Europe then he might prefer to stay there than come to the Championship

 

I have a connection into the workings of Palace through a close friend (the only club I do!) and MF has definitely been in calls with them. Apparently the sticking point is the fee Saints are asking for.

 

Truth be told he'd be a perfect singing for them and I don't think he'd gain an awful lot from staying at Saints next season. Hurts me to say it but it's objectively true.

We'd all.love to build a team around him and he's under contract etc but it doesn't always work that way.

We will have a value and hope it's met but I expect him to leave and as I've said before I want us to get ducks in a row quickly for next season to hit the ground running.
