Nobody, including Acun, is saying the questioning was inappropriate.
He even said it was a question that needed to be asked & answered.
It had already been asked and answered.
Then Mike White brought it up again pre-match. And still harps on about it.

But aren’t his mates rumoured to be backing the opposition, which is now classed as a terrorist organisation by his mate the president?

It’s like one of those hillbilly families where there’s 3 moms living in the same trailer park all married to the same guy.

Yeah, some cultures thinking calling black people ‘n*ggers’ is okay if you ‘didn’t mean it’ or have a black colleague. Some cultures think imprisoning and torturing journalists is okay. Some cultures think committing multiple genocides and refusing to admit it was genocide is okay.

Hull City isn’t a football club in Turkey. We don’t have to accept his cultural ‘quirks’ that are abhorrent.

This constant leaping to "he's speaking in a second language" to absolve him of anything dumb he says is a bit disingenuous too.

Whatever Acun said in the interview he’s going to get bashed by those who don't like him.

I don’t mind Baz as much as he seems to be genuinely wants City to do well. I just think he steps over the line and acts as if he’s a football pundit which he is not qualified to do.

Mike White on the other hand seems to be only interested in maximising his clicks even when there is a non-story.

My understanding of the late payment was it was a purely technical issue whereas the recent Sheffield Wednesday one was more the owner not having sufficient cash funds to draw on. The latter being far more serious as that means their owners other business interests could also be at risk.

Mike White did his best to sensationalise the racist story. There’s a fine line between investigative journalism and virtue signalling, and White strayed into the latter in my opinion.

What I took from the interview is that Acun isn’t phased by some fans criticism as he is used to it. Emre isnt going to get appointed because he doesn’t want to do something that would distract fans attention from the football, and that he still has ambitions for the club and is prepared to back it another season with his own cash.

All good news to my ears. The constant bashing from some fans will continue unless he delivers success.

The deflections and excuses made for him are bizarre and contradictory. The ones you see the most are ‘he’s made mistakes but means well’ or ‘he loves the club and wants to do his best’. He’s a grown man, a businessman at that, not a child learning how to do algebra.

His defenders also make out he’s some genius. Really bizarre. Never known so many adults simultaneously infantilise another adult’s poor decision-making whilst making out he’s a great owner and savvy businessman. Oh wait, there is a parallel across the pond…

It really isn’t. Have you ever wondered why if you use google to translate Turkish into English that half the time it comes back with gobbledygook? Whereas doing the equivalent in German or English comes back almost perfect most of the time?
I can’t be bothered to explain but if you’re interested ask google what are the differences between Agglutinative and Fusional structured languages.

Uh, probably because Google translate is a really poor translation device because it's not meant to translate conversational phrases? Are you genuinely trying to use Google translate to compare to Acun's ability to speak English? Now who's calling him thick?

The criticism of him bringing it up pre-match is, I’m afraid, utterly phoney and a deflection from the real problem, which was that Acun allowed the late payments to happen in the first place as we were battling to stay in the league.

Finnish is an agglutinative language too. The Finns I’ve spoken to in English don’t chat as much bollocks as Acun does.

Keep infantilising him though. I’m sure he’ll take you on holiday at some point :emoticon-0105-wink:

White didn’t sensationalise it in any way whatsoever. Acun should have been savvy enough to know that Emre’s history would be a problem. He was the one who chose him as a candidate. Another poor decision to add to the awful calls to sack Mcann for Shota, Rosenior for Walter, and Selles for a.n.other.

I feel for you Syd i really do. You couldn’t wait for Rosie to clinch that European spot so that you could gloat on here about how you have been proved right all along. I genuinely think it’s so important for you to be proved right that if you were given a magic wand and you could choose between Rosie clinching European qualification vs. City been relegated on goal difference, it would be like Sophie’s choice for you.

My reply was purely about why Acun said that in Turkey the media would not have raised the wage problem before an important game. That is all, nothing more, and that is a cultural difference between the media in UK compared to Turkey.

On the other issue you raised, I couldn't agree more that Turkey human rights record is not compatible with our way of thinking, but we either have to accept owners from countries these days that may have different thinking to UK culture or not. If not, either the clubs disappears or languish in the lower divisions.

Newcastle for example are enjoying success, but I guess you would be hard-pressed to get a Geordy fan agreeing that Saudi human rights policy is welcomed. That's football in England today.

I mean, he will have European football next season and I haven't mentioned it half as much as you. I also haven't mentioned Strasbourg's results in weeks and only discussed Rosenior in response to other people bringing him up (as you proved with your quotes). But carry on.

If it was a choice between Rosenior getting Europe or us going down I think that's a rather easy choice isn't it? <laugh>

Agreed. Personally I’d love our next owner to be a Saudi prince or a Russia oligarch.

Because I misread your conundrum as I think you did when typing it out. I presume you meant if it was a choice between European football for Rosenior or us staying up I'd have a hard choice. Why would I choose us getting relegated? <doh>

Thankfully the reality is both have been achieved so I get to be doubly happy and you get to be a miserable ****. :)

Because you can’t stand being proved wrong on any opinion you ever have about absolutely anything?
