he'd be an absolutely excellent appointment no risk of relegation, with potential for more if we get good recruitment cant see him coming now
Sorry but I don't get the clamour for Miron Muslic. Ok, yes, Plymouth had a bit of an upturn, but as CWS says, possibly as much to do with it not being Rooney as anything else, plus being able to strengthen in January particularly to shore up the defence and add some bite. I watched the Liverpool game that has become ridiculously over-hyped. Liverpool basically put out their academy, and even didn't bother having the handful of big guns on the bench in case it went wrong like most teams do. They absolutely battered Plymouth...but just couldn't score on the day. I quite liked his opening speech; his English is very good. But look at his CV. He's achieved nothing and has such limited experience. He even got sacked at Cercle Brugge after 2 years. No idea why Plymouth appointed him. It was a gamble for them that didn't pay off. It would be a big gamble for us too. The only 2 pluses I can see would be a) he's now got half a season Championship experience, and b) it's not Emre.
Is he a black and white or a red and white, and aware of the fierce rivalry in this city? Those are the real questions that need addressing. And no doubt will be if he gets the job.
my exact thoughts….why take a risk? It’s not like he’s from the area or a former player. No links to us at all. It’s a non starter
Alex Neil doesn’t have much potential but he’s the kind of appointment we need. I think he would actually get time to build a settled side too.
Eh? When did links to the area or a former player become criteria for Manager? Alex Neil wanted the job in November so why wouldn’t he want it now?
Why? Because we have resources. Money to spend, an ambitious owner and already some real quality players in the squad. You have to take chances when they come your way.
He can’t reach things from high shelves? No…it was simply a casual reference to everyone being obsessed with players heights that’s all. Clearly went over your head…
First time for everything but I agree with you. Not overly keen on Muslić. Don’t get me wrong, he’s seems like a good guy and a good motivator/man-manager but is he an upgrade on Sellés in terms of tactics? I don’t really think he is. Of all the coaches tentatively linked, the only ones that peak my interest are Alex Neil due to the experience he has in the Championship and the great job he has done at Millwall or Albert Riera for a more left-field appointment as he’s had a lot of success winning things (albeit in the Slovenian league) and I like the sound of his approach to man-management and tactics. Was also a decent player from memory and not a racist like Belözoğlu.
