I am gutted that I have a note from matron that means I miss tomorrow’s game. As a Saints fan I have visited Goodison so many times in desperate hope only to travel home defeated. I considered writing to the Board suggesting giving this fixture a miss. So I shan’t miss the journey home, but will miss the chance to enjoy the unique experience of a Goodison visit. Lots of places have friendly supporters who are happy to exchange greetings with an away fan, but only at Everton did I ever find myself in conversation waiting in the chippy with fans who knew as much, if not more, than I did about my club. I wish you well in your new home and hopefully I will a) be fit enough and b) have a team in the Prem again that will mean this fixture can go back on my list of things to do. Obviously I hope we bugger up today’s party, but thanks Evertonians for great memories of true football fans. I’m sure you’ll carry that on in the future.
