I was thrown out of Craven Cottage for questioning the referee's parentage, to be fair I had no idea as regards his family situation, but the policeman showed me a nice little cast iron sign which stated that the land was owned by the Church of England Commissioners and that swearing was prohibited. So out I went. Walked around to the next stand and paid to get back in, instant fine really, and was able to see that beautiful goal by Claudio Marangonni
What a beauty that was, made it look so easy ... ... for some reason we were in the Fulham end so got a great view of it. After the game I found a discarded old pushbike with two flat tyres. I jumped on it and hung back while the lads went into the pub we'd been in before the game. I rode it through the swing doors, through the bar and out the other doors, all the while singing 'Raindrops keep falling on my head' ... ... the pub erupted and I got a huge round of applause when I walked back in, great days
Being 'deeply offended' and claiming to be traumatised is becoming commonplace and, in my opinion, takes away concern and help for genuine cases. I was listening to BBC Radio Scotland yesterday. There was a woman who 'rescues and counsels' others who've happily made personal sex tapes which have then slipped out, either by error or through vindictive ex-partners. Now, of course, that can't be nice but, if you're happy to be filmed having sex, it's not the end of the world. This woman kept calling these people 'survivors' as if they were liberated from a war zone or slavery, it made me cringe tbh. Everyone has sex, everyone knows everyone has sex, so it's not as if they're being filmed committing some unspeakable sin ... ... instead of laughing through it and letting the novelty wear off they seem to want to turn it into a lifelong trauma. If you wouldn't be able to cope with someone seeing you having sex, don't record it in the first place.
Used to be a regular listener. Can't stand it now. I sometimes put it on on my way home from work after backshift for the 15 minute drive home if there's been matches played, but that's it. Danny Murphy, Jim White "hundred percent" Darren Bent etc, just can't stomach it anymore. A factor that also is the arse kissing and instant respect that Newcastle got after the takeover and continue to get today. Loads of pundits changing their tune from laughing at them to kissing their arse, getting in nice and early just incase Newcastle see some success so they can all say they were there at the beginning. That was the last straw for me. Some may see that as a petty excuse to stop listening, but the whole station, shows and hosts were getting boring long before that. Trans Europ express on a Sunday is canny and different, but once again, 15 minute fodder for a drive home.
I used to listen to it a bit, especially Hawksbee and Jacobs on an afternoon when I wasn't at work, but I've not listened to it for years. Too much crap spouted by the likes of Adrian Durham and Darren Gough. And the Jim White show brought you by Jim White in association with Jim White... Christ, that did my napper in after a while....
Talksport and Skysports days are numbered, they deliberately seek out these "deeply offended" people to suit their agenda. The cynic in me would class some of these people as planted but the way of the world these days makes it fashionable to be offended at something. If anyone was chanting homophobic / racist abuse in the SOL in this day and age I have no doubt it would be instantly called out and dealt with, more than likely it will be a pissed up imbecile trying to impress his mates and ended up making a tit of himself and banned. But Talksport have blown it all out of proportion no doubt. Whenever Skysports are out and about on the pathetic transfer deadline day I am sure they seek out the village idiot to interview outside the SOL or St James. Nearly everytime its some halfwit who has no clue about football
Talksport has always been like that, though. It's cheaply ran and relies on mostly "shock jock" presenters, like Adrian Durham, to provoke people into calling in. It's why Simon Jordan crops up so much on there. To defend Skysports, though, if you're out and about with a TV camera anywhere it'll attract idiots. I've got personal experience of a couple of seeing TV cameras out in Newcastle and Sunderland and the morons hanging around like flies on sh!t. Most sensible people spot the cameras and get out of the way, but the idiots flock to it so the can brag to their fellow morons that they've been on telly. Mind you, they do get what they ask for when they do it.
Nah, whinging OTR. Be interesting if the club have cancelled tickets due to the nonsense on talk sport.
Our lass must have missed that memo, I'm going to print your post out and leave it round the house for her
Another whining woman. We can't shout "Up the women" We can't say "We'll get behind the women" FFS, attention seeking bint
