I do think we shouldn’t underestimate the pull of the job though. A Championship role is one promotion away from a PL job. Thats attractive. We’ve got 3 multi million pound players due back that should immediately improve our squad and they are unlikely to be sold. That’s also attractive. Our defence can be built on. Yes you’ve got an increasingly mad looking owner but I could see why a manager might interested. If it goes wrong you can even say ‘well Hull City are a basketcase’
no manager would turn us down becasue the owner is a basket case the financial rewards of a sacking are briliant they may turn us down for other reasons though
We've tried the young but in-experienced managers that have managed/played in England. We've tried the inexperienced manager that's never managed/played in England. We've tried the experienced manager that's never managed/played in England. Should be obvious we need a manager that's been around the block and has Championship experience. Don't have any faith that's who we'll end up with though.
I agree that the risks of being sacked are overplayed in the media. You get a huge pay-off and often walk in to another job - seems to be the same old faces going round and round and round. But if you want to build something, then at the margin you'd want a manager who is stable.
I just don't think our squad is good by Champ standards at all (esp up front) and there is little financial room to improve it. I just don't think that we look like an attractive proposition at all at the moment.
Exactly the same. McCann got kept on after a far far worse season when the players mostly ran up the white flag, that turned out to be a good decision. If we keep changing managers, and nothing improves, maybe it's time to wonder why that is.
I was amazed McCann wasn't sacked after the Wigan shambles. But you are right, straight back up and doing okay IIRC when Acun arrives and shows everyone his business acumen. K2 is right, all bad decisions lead back to him, and pretty much from the word go.
Watford don't struggle for managers.....we won't either, the prospect of a 2-3 year deal and pay off when the nutter pulls the trigger is not that bad really
McCann went to Peterborough and saw them relegated - then went to Doncaster and has done well there - success in League 1 and 2 does not mean success at Championship level - like a few managers, McCann is sound enough in the lower leagues but so far hasn't proven himself at a higher level
He does seem followed by allegations of racism everywhere he goes. (and even found guilty once) so he’s not my cup of tea
And the likelihood that the majority of outsiders will think that they just weren't given a fair crack of the whip, regardless of their performance.
I think a fully fit squad would be fairly good. If I was approached to be Manager I would need some assurances. Keep Pandur and Hughes. Matazo, Zambrano, Belloumi and Miller can't be sold as injured/banned. That backbone plus Crooks, Jones, McL, looks good for later in the season if we sign a good striker and 2 fullbacks. If a new prospective Manager senses a firesale, I wouldn't touch the job.
I’ve read about ten pages and was going to respond to a few but kept reading. Bear with me I sorta get why Acuns done it he wants us to be a big club big clubs don’t sit back and hold on roseniors last game was pathetic let’s face it And I think acun just thought no I want hull city to be better than that So went for Walter who always goes for it? god knows why he didn’t back the poor bloke from the off and give him a chance? Tans fault? brings in selles and his head must have exploded watching the team twat about those last four or five games? It was pathetic big teams go out and get the job done forget what others are doing A lot of posters were more concerned with other results than what we did oh and I really don’t want to get into a back n forth with some boring **** I didn’t make the decision Acun did He wants us to be big Obviously the next appointment is huge Is Moyes staying at Everton? That’s who need But he’s got to give whoever gets the job the tools to do it And sign them early and get them into a cohesive unit
