NO CHANGES TO!!!................ WELL in a way that is to be expected, all said and done the history books will state 2025 PO's Sheff Utd go to FINAL with a 6 - 0 AGG: win and our team "is in stage 1 of the rebuild" ???
since the mayhem of the previous managers reign [ not condemning NP he did what he was asked, but health, (and must just ad a tad ) of attitude? did not help. Maybe better to say "is in stage 2 /2a of the rebuild".
I am hoping Nahki can get another 12 month contract and we do get a proven goal scorer, biggest loser this season has to be Conway. I wonder just how much better we might have been with him? MAYBE NOT top 2 but maybe 3rd or fourth.
Not sure on who is where with FFP this season or who is on the brink!!! but 2 or 3 teams could be! 3 TEAMS COMING DOWN NOT AS FORMIDABLE AS THE 3 came down last season... so maybe a lesser than 2024/25 task to get into and stay there top 6.

of most interest is how much will SL allow to be spent? STRIKER ... well Charlie Kelman been on loan so could be a snap! Do I recall an interest in Kone at WYCOMBE? Louie Barry AVILLA had him out on loan for part season?

We have a small squad that was decimated by injuries, our defence was already stretched and Dickie was sent off in the first leg when it was still level, so was unavailable for the second leg. They’re a parachute payment club with a pretty much full availability of players.

The gulf in class is much to do with the inequality of the parachute payments system which doesn’t create a level playing field. This article doesn’t even touch on this.

Personally I think we did exceptionally well to get into the playoffs, but by then our team was stretched and exhausted. Well done to all concerned.

That said we didn’t help ourselves by poor summer recruitment, but that’s a discussion for another time.

Disappointing news about Williams being out till October and McNally out till November.
I hope LM wants Atkinson and extends his contract.

We came from virtually nowhere to claim a Playoff place in the final few weeks of the season and up until then we had been very much under the radar

But things will be different next season as the expectations of both fans and the media will be for us to at least repeat the feat again or better it

Well documented failures of much better funded teams than us helped us hugely this time around but the likes of West Brom, Middlesbrough, Norwich and Watford will be gunning for it next year along with either Sunderland or Sheffield United, plus Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich all with parachute payments

A very unlevel playing field for a small club like us

It’s also amazing that Sunderland got almost 50,000 through the turnstiles for the second leg against Coventry, quite a fantastic advert for the Championship

the last fixture of the season is the end of the level playing field! to find ourselves in the position of 6th being the result.......
did we deserve it? to be very frank NO.... we were an average side through out the season last 10 games we were at the mercy of results around us. take 4 segments of the season 12/12/12/10 games and we barely faltered from the end result prediction of 68 - 70 points. luckily this season 68 was a winner!
how games are distributed is of immense importance start the season say first 12 games [ and has to be in hindsight as we dont know the strength's of any other teams at this point ] we were to play 6 home .... versus 3 bottom and 2 middle and 1 top of the table and 3 away top and 2 middle and 1 bottom away it would equate to 4 -4 -4 pretty average so likely 18 points would be fair!!! EOS = 69 POINTS!
HOWEVER ... TOP AND BOTTOM'S RARELY stabilise till after 12 games what would be hard is to play 6 games of the 12 away to teams in top 10! and 6 games home v teams in middle to bottom 10! and come out with far less than 18 points ...say 12 pts
ANALYSIS SHOWS certain teams had some very easy runs .. = higher confidence building .... some downright difficult .. confidence destroying... CITY IN THE MAIN were pretty much middle of the road average ....

Analytically you may well be correct but in this game you take what you have earned, what you have worked for, the good fortune, luck or the bad, our team did well, fantastic season and we are a top six side, makes me proud.

The way I look at it, over a season we all played 23 opponents home and away and came 6th. The table after 46 don’t lie.

it doesnt it is the final culmination of all the up's and down's good decisions or / and bad ones we [ after many / some / few? on here were doubtful of us even ending the season with the same manager ] survived. Finishing 6th was the cherry on the cake .. consistency, 17 of the teams lost more than us and only 2 drew more
TARGET next season [ minimum ] must be not to lose more than 12 and win half the number of draws we had this season................ 3 teams coming down not likely as strong as those that did this season! SO our best chance I believe to get top 6 [ 3 or 4 ]

Depends on outgoings and incomings this summer, If we can keep the core and add some quality incomings, then there’s no reason why we can’t do well. The problem is our better players will have drawn attention to themselves by our season, success without promotion is a double edged sword.

I have a question for you Ashton and that is what would you consider your core and of how many players? We could see some interesting answers but I think we are all mainly on the same kind of thoughts.

    Could be
The club won’t, and shouldn’t stand in the way of any player who wants to leave

Let us ay that the story of Max leaving is correct then we would be left with 2 keepers who have had almost no first team action for quite some time which could leave us struggling to compete. The great thing about goalies is their age is not so much of a disadvantage as it would be for an outfielder and there has to be a candidate out there who would more than suit our needs, but do we have the desire or gumption to go out and get one if Max leaves? Indecision has cost us many things over the years and if you add in our pathetic and costly venture into the rebuilding programme during last summer it makes me ask are we up to doing better this time out? I truly believe that we have some interferers in our midst who probabbly have more say than they deserve in our transfer targets and over the last few years it has led to some pretty diabolical decisions in regard to new players and retaining older staler players who should be moved on. I think re-signing Wells would be good because at least he gives effort when he's on the pitch and also offers scoring from the bench if needed, but many others need to be sent on their way with our best wishes and replaced with more talented players. Good luck to the good ship Bristol City and all who sail on her.
