All newly promoted teams are a bit worried about going berserk with the spending after the Forest debacle I think....I mean it just about worked and they got off lightly, but it could have easily bankrupted them.

Sadly they know they're gonna be **** if they go up....not like the hilarious time Swindon went up with us in 93 and told the world they were gonna grace the Prem with their attractive football....and then Chelsea poached Hoddle and Swindon got annihilated.

Le Bris will set them up to play like San Marino every game. Play like they did last night against Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa and us and they will have their arses handed to them royally on a plate.

You mean the Forest debacle where they are up in 7th place and have qualified for European football? If you have an owner that’s willing to fund it you might as well take a swing and reap the benefits if it pays off.

PL set a precedent with Forest. Clubs should just breach PSR and take a points hit.

That's the situation now, the reality is that after spending all that money they only finished 16th after buying an entire new team. Steve Cooper basically worked a miracle to stabilise the clusterfuck they were. They only survived by 4 points, and the rest is history....but if they went down that season, which they nearly did, they would have been totally ****ed.

Its a lot better than any of the promoted teams did either last season or this season. It was a calculated risk and it paid off. The owner was obviously able to fund it and presumably a lot of the players were on short term contracts or ones with relegation clauses in. It seems to be getting easier to get into the PL, particularly for the teams relegated the previous season, but harder to stay there. Man Utd and Spurs would have been in a relegation battle a few years ago but are now 16pts clear of the drop zone.

I see what Forest did as a calculated gamble to break out of that mould, that has paid off big time. Will be interesting to see what the teams that come up this season do.

The cost of the gamble going wrong would have been catastrophic, this isn't a model for other teams.

I fail to see how it would have been any more catastrophic than getting relegated. Clubs getting into problems are those where the owners don't want to chuck their money at the problem (Bolton, Reading, Sunderland etc). If owners like Leicester's and Nottingham Forest's are it doesn't seem to cause problems until they stop supporting the club financially.

Think positive Mick. Spurs and Man Utd wins would mean we are more or less top 5 without having to worry about the last two games.

I reckon Chelsea Man Utds already fixed in at a 3-0 home win. Big 6 buddies helping each other out and all that , not for the first time either.
Villa will probably stick 4 or 5 past Tottnum coz they are f*ckin' ****e anyway.

Cant disagree with this. Hope springs eternal and all that, but this couldn’t be too easier fixtures. Like I said all means Sky have a three or even four way shootout on the final day.

Spurs are still in it at half time. If they can keep a clean sheet tonight, I'd be happy with that.
