After the Azhan in Jakarta thought the Istanbul ones were very melodic, but I guess if you don't have to get up to pray they might be a bit annoying!. If you are staying in Sultanahmet get yourself down to the Seven Hills Cafe and Restaurant. Fantastic roof top views of the city and Asian tourists getting harassed by seagulls. Love Istanbul - definitely one of my favourite cities.
Yeah it’s annoying but it’s a Muslim country and I’ve chosen to travel there. It’s not a big deal just a slight pain in the backside when it wakes you up. I’ve never been here for twenty plus years. I can’t believe how modernised everything is now. The public transport networks work great. Streets are spotless. Everybody is seriously laid back and friendly. I enjoy my shopping and they’ve got some of the biggest brands in the world now opening stores in some of their lesser cities. I’ll mention the Seven Hills Cafe to my mate. He knows this place like the back of his hand.
Get down the Grand Bazaar then. They have fake copies of all the biggest brands, plus plenty of interesting shops selling spices, coffee, carpets etc.
All this Istanbul chat, reminded me I had been watching the 'Turkish Detective' and forgot to watch the rest of the series.
I can’t buy the fake copies, Jacky. I’m a little pretentious with fake clothes, aftershaves, trainers etc. I can’t wear something with confidence if I know it’s fake. Without confidence I’m a shell of a human being. I bought these today for 4,800 lira. I reckon I might have paid a few quid cheaper for them in the UK, tbh.
I am the same. My Mrs and daughter are typical Asians though and love some good fakes. We actually got stopped by Chinese customs coming out of Shenzhen to Hong Kong and told we had too much fake stuff with us. Didn’t help that the suitcases we had them in were fakes as well!
... got absolutely no problem with some fakes ... some brands are absolute rip-offs ... pay peanuts to the poor ****ers making their products then put a 400% or more mark-up to sell them ...
I can't do fakes if i know they were fake. What's the point of having it if it's not the real deal lol.
You’re losing your Asian heritage! If other people think it’s the real deal then it’s served its purpose. What gets me is when they buy fake electronics and they fall apart after a few uses.
Answer me this ... in the age of the mobile phone, why would anybody need a genuine Rolex watch other than to compensate for a remarkably small penis?
I don't get you, people wear watches because they look good not to tell time. Nothing has changed there. It is funny though and you can try this, ask someone wearing a watch what time it is and they'll go to their pocket and look at their phone.
Yes ... but a good fake would acheive the former (which was really my point) ... and you are bang on re the latter
I would probably say for the same reason people buy clothes from Selfridges instead of Primark. Or that they buy a BMW car instead of a Vauxhall. Personal choice and individuality, we're all different and not actually robots. If it upsets the don't have's then tough sit tbh.
I do that because I can no longer see the hands on my watch without having to put glasses on! I still wear the watch though.
