Oh I could hide neath the wings, Of a Bluebird as she sings, The six o'clock alarm would never ring, But six rings and I rise, Wipe the sleep out of my eyes, My shaving razor's cold and it stings (done without google lol)
I seem to remember in Lawrie’s day that we were relegated and beat them 3-1 at the end of that season. So fingers crossed
Hate to be a pedant (oh why not?) but it was 3-0 and distilled supporting Saints for decades into less than 2 hours. We played like world champions, Osgood scored his first goal at last, and at the end of the game we were safe as known relegation candidates Norwich were winning at St Andrews against our relegation rivals. But the game had kicked off late for some reason, or was it simply that in 1974 we needed to wait for The Pony Express? We waited anxiously. This was it. After a season of promise had collapsed at the business end we were to be reprieved. But of course ... Brum scored lateand we were down. Feel familiar?!
8-0 in a snow storm. 1971. 7-1 in 1996. i was at both. At least in ‘96 I was living on Merseyside so a shorter journey home to brood. Bizarrely I never fell out of love with the place or their fantastic knowledge fans.
