They had 5 shots on target across 210 mins of play. I wouldn't call that "domination". Lampard just shifting the narrative away from the fact he failed.

Like Scout 73 I've been off this site for many weeks, just got fed up with doom Sayers but more recently serious family heath issues have put football into its true perspective.

I honestly haven't watched a single minute of our 2 play off games, I just couldn't. Relied on phone alerts, which isn't good, how many times this season have we chucked points away in the last few minutes so imagine how I felt at the end of these 2 games expecting the worse but been absolutely delighted it was in our favour this time.

Ive said many times this young team just doesn't know when it's beaten and them and the manager deserve all the credit as do our wonderful fans, last night was off the scale so well done one and all.

I'm in the Scottish Highlands for the final, good planning eh...so its phone alerts again for me but they seem to be working in our favour so why change it.

The final will take care of itself and is for another time, enjoy the moment youve all earned it. Well done SAFC HTL.

This thread makes for an interesting case study like, a meltdown, at least three pairs of pissy knickers and we won the match and will be going to wembley.

Yeah that’s typical manager bullshit after a loss. We were the better team because we did what we were doing better than Coventry did their thing. Pocession my arse - how many shots on target did they actually have?

    Haven't posted for a while

But what a bloody game! I was getting ready to turn the stream off and get the penalty results in the morning!

Mental. Massive performances from a few of the players. I don't care about possession stats, we've played a lot of games this season with less possession but keeping our shape and striking on the counter.

Mayenda was amazing, but he needs to change his studs! Too many slips at the last second

    O9 and Ballard immense

Mundle brilliant to watch when he came on

We need to learn to take our throw ins!

    On the way to Wembley!

Possibly the best performances I’ve seen from him and Coventrys style is like breakfast to his style. Not as smart on the ball as Mepham or 09 but a great balance and great to have 3. That defending late on from 09 though. Class.

Not having it we didn't deserve to go through. We let them have the ball over both legs and I can't remember patto making a meaningful save.

They had 2 shots on target last night, in a game they desperately needed to score. We had 4 on target.

We had our game plan, stuck to it. It was controlled defense work, wasnt last ditch defending or worldy saves by the goalkeeper, simply tactics that worked. Wasn't pretty or easy to watch for the nerves but we throughly deserved to go through.

Bit like villa under O'Neil with agbonglahor and young in the team. They sat back and hit teams on the break at pace.

Mundle is a must for a system like that and no surprise we were going forward more once he come on.

I guess we will never know unless Big Dan + Mepham get a chance to play together at some point. Set pieces at both ends are so important
It would be nice to at least let them both play together to see what type of partnership it would be. Aerial height at both ends of the pitch is so important and they are our 2 best headers by a distance. For me Luke while 100% Sunderland man, his best position is similar to Dan Neil, holding MF.

I still can't believe, after how dominant he'd been aerially all throughout the tie, that Coventry allowed Dan Ballard a free header in the last minute on the edge of the 6 yard box. Suicidal.

Big shout out for Dan Neil. Whilst he covered ground his short and long passing was off. However, he grabbed the game in extra time and drove us forward, especially in the second half. Bravery to want the ball all of the time. Pushed to the last, corner and then bedlam.
