They were going to demolish Goodison but changed their minds and will use it for the Women's team.

FSG's careful approach to spending paid off there. We'd have had to sign a bunch of players just to fit his system and it's becoming clear that he isn't as tactically flexible as the best modern day managers.

39,000 stadium, the league average was just over 7,000. Which is massively skewed by the 'one-off games' played at the Men's grounds and Arsenal.

Arsenal have the highest average attendance, again boosted by moving to the Emirates, of 30,000. Which wouldn't even fill Goodison.
Even Chelsea, 6 time Champions, only play at a ground that has just under 5,000 capacity.

The upkeep on that dilapidated stadium is going to crush Everton WFC

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi in an induced coma and receiving intensive care after emergency surgery on abdominal injury which could have been fatal

Sounds a horrible one that. Hope he recovers all ok. That’s probably the first proper injury that has come about because of a late offside flag where it could have gone up early and saved everyone any issues. Not blaming the linesman but something that they need to think about for clear cut obvious offsides.

Yeah, the lino was the great, incomparable Sian Massey, so I hope no blame goes her way - that's what they're instructed to do. She's the one lino I'd 100% trust to get it right without VAR.

They can close all the upper tiers off and just use the lower.

The thing is thst it's better and cheaper than renting

    Is it though?
The overheads on a stadium of that size? For a team that is lucky to get 3,500 fans turn up for each game?

EDIT: Just checked, Everton women's average attendance is actually 2,062. Keeping open a 39,000 capacity stadium for 2k fans each week? daft

    What over heads really?

You close what you dont need you.are doing bare maintenance and the roof is the roof etc.

    The pitch is the pitch

They don't need that much. To set it up to be staffed and policed for a small crowd.

I doubt they are going to level a stand and put up a smaller one. Why would you?

If anything it's there to encourage local fans to come for a game and they try grow their game.

Property and council tax for starters. A building the size of Goodison will pay a **** load of council tax every year.
Then there are the utilities, lighting, heating. The bigger the stadium the more lights needed to illuminate it. Yeah you can not heat certain offices etc but its still gonna cost a fortune, and I just checked Everton womens average attendance for their WSL games, its actually 2,062 fans per game! At what, £10 a pop? The maths dont add up.

They'd be better off levelling the stadium, building a much smaller one for the girls, and a couple of blocks of flats they could could rent or sell for extra income.

    It'll be paid anyway.

Maybe they will get a deal off the council for it or maybe they will try co rent it to something else (who knows what)

You are right that it's a low price ticket and a small crowd

But where they play now is local but only has a 2,200 capacity so they can't grow as is.

If you close off large sections you can save on power and water.

Goodison is rammed in there so you won't get a smaller stadium for 10k on thet site plus properties and the value of property wouldn't pay for the cost of thst work.

This will be a real cheap way to handle it (imo)

There'll be some councillors who will do them a deal.

I'd like to see it keep going for sentimental reasons - I'm not sure it'll be economically viable though.

I guess you look to see if you can do other things like hosting concerts there to generate more income
