The keeper made some good saves from decent Bradford chances then given no chance by that deflection. Gutting for the keeper, but I doubt Bradford give a $h!t. I'd have taken a couple of those if it meant staying up.
I’d be gutted if I was a wurzels fan after last night. But even they must accept to get promoted when 22 points behind their opponents would just be not right, rules or no rules. Still they may turn it around
Not quote the same circumstances but reminiscent of our 3-0 defeat by Reading at home.... albeit we'd done the hard bit before folding.. I'm sure it's equally as dispiriting though. I am however slightly bemused by their manager and several (not all) of their fans are questioning the red card... clear foul, clear penalty and as last man, clear red card, however 'soft' you may feel it is (which I don't think it was - Dickie was all over the back of Moore) - it was just a poor lapse in concentration from Dickie and it cost them dearly in the end. If it was the other way around, and Wells or Mehmeti go down under the same kind of challenge I have no doubt 85% of the fans in the ground and the entirety of one bench would be screaming for a penalty and red card...
Surprisingly Sunderland get a winner (not quite in Coventry time) but still all to play for. Sickening to see Bellingham dive to try to get a penalty- he’s got form for that at others expense not least us a few seasons back.
Ouch that must sting. The biggest play off aggregate on record. Suppose it goes to show the table doesn’t lie.
I wonder if it was the biggest points difference in the league between to teams playing each other in the playoffs.
Who’s in the Coventry or Sunderland camp? Coventry for me. ps If we had a League 1 thread we could debate their play offs to see who leaves us and who is joining us
Coventry for me. If you think there should be a new thread (and I mean this in the nicest way) do one. You're right it could be a a good way to find out more about those who will seek to hinder our path back to glory, or something.
Tomorrow is an official Be Nice to Robbie Day. I thought Coventry were the better side and just ran out of steam at the end
I’m neutral but that wouldn’t have been chalked off in a league game which has no VAR yet a play off final between two championship sides has VAR. That just can’t be right.
Glad Sunderland won. Feel sorry for Kieffer but prefer the Mackems as a club and they've had a rough ride in recent years. Hope we can eventually emulate them.
Must say I agree. 3rd and 4th rightly got to the final but the 14 point gap between them was overturned in one game - that can't really be right.
Agree but the teams enter the season knowing that this can happen in the play offs. It would have been ridiculous if say Bristol City won in the final given how many points difference there were between 3rd & 6th. Another point validly made is Sunderland simply switched off well before the season proper ended so the 14 point gap was in a way artificial.
