What I will say about this game is if that's the general standard of match officials down there, then we're in for some serious "fun" next season.

They were appalling. Orient's first goal was miles offside but allowed to stand. To counter that, the ref waved away a stonewall penalty for Orient when a Stockport player took the legs from under an Orient guy right in front of him.

It was another "clear and obvious" foul and it makes you think he was making up for allowing Orient's obvious offside goal earlier.

I'm in France at the moment in Rocamodour. Apparently there is a 'legal' rave going on nearby, with a large police presence and road blocks and the occasional helicopter overhead. At first I thought they were out spoil our Triumph motorcycle rally, but they have left us bunch of old parts alone

Anyway, you lot smuggle recreational substances for fun. Why else travel on 2 wheels when you could be driving a 4 wheeled, air conditioned, comfortable car?

German referee Patrick Ittrich has suggested making several changes to football's rules.

1) For a tactical foul in midfield, a free-kick should be awarded 17 metres from goal. How often will we see such fouls then?

2) If the player rolls on the floor three times and needs a doctor, get him one and make him wait on the sideline for 3 minutes. How quickly do you think the player would stand up?

3) If a player insults the referee, send them off for 10 minutes to calm down. Go cycling to warm up before coming back on. We can learn from handball in that respect.

4) How is a referee surrounded by 10 men after a decision? In my opinion, boom, boom, boom - three red cards. Play seven against ten now. That'd be fine by me.

All sounds good to me. Oh and when a goalkeeper catches the ball and lies on the ground like he’s just saved a worldie, give a free kick to the opponents!

I know it's taking the thread off subject, but you're spot on Bluey.

An old business aquaintance of the past who is now a good friend has an ongoing problem with IBS. He's now developed other side issues that's severley impacting his life. Appointments with his doctors are so dissmissive to the extent that he feels inclined to give up!

The last straw was a visit to his doctors (again!) last week to be told he'd need an ultra-sound examination to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of it. He got the appointment letter yesterday - it was booked for November. <doh>

FFS, over 5 months wait for a bloody NHS ultra-sound scan that could get to the crux of the problem and sort him out - absolutley scandalous. He's today spent 400 quid on a private scan at Nuffield that he's having done on Friday.

I’ve just waited 13 months for a spirometry test for my asthma. Turns out I’ve progressed to the first stage of COPD.

So in quick succession I’ve been given a chest X-ray and CT scan which show a deterioration of my raised diaphragm and I’ve got an ultrasound booked on Monday. Surgery is an option to lower the diaphragm from intruding into my right lung and I’ll be glad to have it after waiting over a year.

No wonder my Parkrun/walk times are getting slower!

I don't have that excuse IB. Just getting older, fatter and slower. <wah>

Absolutely shocking Sparks. Just shows the ongoing NHS deterioration. Those in power really don't give a sh1te.

Oh I’m getting older, fatter and slower as well! Not helped by a week’s all inclusive here in Kos.

Still the diet starts tomorrow. Yes I know, I say that every day!

I've never been a great runner. Mildly asthmatic and chronic hay-fever, which made rugby pre-season a real chore.
Did a half marathon in my late teens and swore, 'never again'. One promise that was easy to keep.
Quite happy doing power and strength work, just not endurance.
A good mate of mine is in Mallorca watching his son do a triathlon. He was supposed to be doing it himself, but he had a pacemaker fitted in December having been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrilation as a result of all his training.
We're both 61, but after all his training, I'm in better shape than him.
Throw some steel about, wrestle some sheep and carry some hay bales about.
Just don't ask me to do aerobic stuff.

OK - based upon the first leg, here's a game that should be a good watch tonight - Stockport County v Leyton Orient second leg playoff.

The first game at Orient was a full of incident and endeavour from both sides - it had everything going on and not a little skill either. That was a welcome return to good old fashioned football. That finished 2-2 so all to play for tonight.

Stockport County looked a really good positive side to me and would be a breath of fresh air in the Championship..

26th September 1970

My first City away game, at Leyton Orient. A boring 0.0 draw on a very sunny afternoon.

Very quiet on the terraces too. Probably 1500 City fans there and no hint of trouble.

Orient, Charlton, Fulham, Palace, QPR and Chelsea (been to all those) may well be the only London clubs still playing at the same stadiums as in the '70's. I don't count Watford as London and Wimbledon left Plough Lane but returned later - not sure if it's the same ground though.
