The 107th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow comes up next on the list of golfing Majors and this one is going to be tough...!! Weighing in, if you can use an boxing analogy, at a whopping 7,626 yards for a now standard par 71 course, you better be good off the tea and with your long fairway woods or long irons. And just to through another spanner into the works, its going to play even longer due to the amount of rain the course has and is expected to have going forward this week...!! So, before you start whittling your selections from the 156 players currently lined up to tee off on the 15th, then make sure that they can bomb a golf ball a long way... The thing is, the top two in that stat department are Rory and Scottie, both the leading men with the bookies, currently both showing a 9/2 in the markets, not appealing at all... A couple that i am going to go with are the following... Sungjae Im @ 70/1 Has a good record at Quail Hollow, T4th last year and is showing a bit of form, top 10 for driving accuracy, 3rd in overall putting, he is a live option at the price. Yes, his approach shots to the green could be better, but his scrambling and putting could see him post a top 10 result... Shane Lowry @ 40/1 Sits 3rd in the Tee-2-green stats, 8th in Approach Shots to Green and is very accurate off the tee, as avoiding the damp, wet and long rough on this course will be a big bonus... Corey Connors @ 55/1 Sites 17th off the Tee, 49th in Approach shots to the green and has had 5 top 10 finishes this year. A player that I have backed almost blindly so far this season, and don't feel the need to leave him out for this... Russell Henley @ 70/1 Going slightly against my driving stat theme, Henley is ranked 123rd off the Tee, but his Scrambling, Approach to the Green and Putting all sit in the top 30, and his driving accuracy is top notch. Finished T10 at this course last year, posting two sub 70 rounds out of the 4 played... All done with Bet365 and a top 8 finish... Good luck if you are having a play...
