£26 price reduction for me. It was a £31 reduction last time we went down, so less generous this time. It doesn't impact my decision because I was always going to renew. But I suspect it isn't a big enough discount to persuade some to renew.
Whilst I think prices for all clubs are too high, that is an issue with football, not specifically Saints. I think the changes this season are fair enough. Paying slightly less for more games. For those moaning, if Saints had a really good season, say top half prem, would you be okay with a big increase because of how good they were last season?
As I said earlier it's roughly about what I was expecting. Would have been nice to have a decent renewal for the fans as a thank you though? The thing I do think is **** though is the changes to the DD option and I think that will make a lot of undecideds not bother. They should have just banned those who cancelled from using it.
I also feel it’s a bit harsh to do it when we have been objectively **** this season and that’s 99.99% of the reason why it was done. I highly doubt if we’d at least been in a relegation battle for the season that people would have done it, or at least as many that did. Supporters didn’t want to see dogshit football and had the foresight to see it wasn’t going to change. Fair enough but just alter the terms and conditions instead of punishing everyone who sees it as financial preference and stuck to it. Going from 50 to £70 a month for ****ter quality is quite a whack on the wallet right now.
My issue with it is that they're punishing people who stuck with the team because of those who didn't. It's inherently unfair. That's not me having a dig at people btw. Each to their own and I don't blame anyone for doing it but it's the truth and I don't think they could have had any complaints if they weren't allowed to use it this season. It wouldn't cost **** all to administer not allowing those people the DD option and I fail to understand why they've not done it. My monthly payment going from £55 to £75 (and having to pay it during the off season) after the worst season in our entire 140 year history is a proper kick in the bollocks. Don't get me wrong I can afford it but there'll be lots of people who won't be able to and I suspect it may tip many undecided people into not bothering. The other thing worth mentioning is that iirc they made a big song and dance last season about being one of the few clubs who offered it interest free and it's terrible optics to remove that after this season imo.
Having been one of the people who did cancel their DD I agree it's unfair to put everyone in one basket. Surely it couldn't have been that hard to give the likes of me this DD option while giving the people who didn't cancel the one from last season?
Yeah they could have. Easier still would be just to take that option away for a season. I don't see how anyone could have had any complaints about that? Tbh legally they probably would have had every right to go after people for the remaining balance even but I'm glad they didn't and it wouldn't have been right to imo.
My first post.. please be gentle. Today I bought my first ST since 2005 (not been able to afford it in the interim) in Kingsland Block 30 on instalments. Can't comment on the renewal factor or if the atmosphere is better in that block or not but when I have been to the odd cup games it's been easier to get in and out via the footbridge to there.
I've been reading anonymously for a few years but took the plunge - it's amazing how different you all read once the swear filter disappears
Really ****ing sorry about that. Welcome along mate. Just so I can make a snap judgement about you, a quick scenario. Hypothetically speaking, if there was an evil conglomerate who had taken over your beloved football club, as well as clubs in other countries to the detriment of your own, would you think that's a good or bad thing?
