I mean, he's a Soton supporter. Ffs, that big girl's blouse Lovren had to be taken off when he played there for us because their fans' booing upset him. They tried the same with Virgil and he just sneered at them. In fact, apart from Ricky Lambert, they've booed every player of ours who went back there, including Mane. And we paid a damn fair price for every player we ever got for them (a zillion times over the odds in Lovren's case).
He denies it for a reason Why did he get in bed with some seriously dodgy people for protection then?
Well, that's circular logic if ever I heard it - so no matter what evidence you hear to the contrary, even from the actual ****ing horses' mouth in this case, you're right because 'It were all over ASDA' or something? Always thought that gangster ****e was utter bollocks as well as he was supposed to be moving to Chelsea, a club owned by Abramovich at the time, a Russian oligarch and gangster who had (still has) access to the most serious, badass, ex Spetnatz, hitmen on the planet, and we're supposed to believe Gerrard was scared to move by some plazzy gangsters from Liverpool and random fannies burning shirts bought for them two minutes earlier by reporters from The Star. Total dogshit.
Well, his daughter is getting hitched to one. I don't think he is too pushed about keeping away from the big nasties.
And that means what in terms of his potential transfer move 20 years ago? Yes, he's from Huyton. I'm from Dovecot. We all know the gangster families, and his family has always been known for being, shall we say, friendly with them (one in particular). Makes a mockery that he'd be worried about random divs issuing death threats, tbh, And also, as I've said, if any gangster family in Liverpool were blocking a move to Chelsea, Abramovich could (and would) have just picked up a phone and there would be a threat no more. Fact.
We didn't boo Klopp when he announced his leaving - even though it arguably was the reason for us falling away from the top last season. The fans understood Klopp's situation - why he did it. I think many fans just don't buy Trent's reasoning - or that of those looking to justify the move. "New challenge" is bollocks, imo. There's no challenge at RM, unless you mean getting and staying in the team and keeping their fans onside (and I'm certain that isn't what he meant). Keeping LFC at the top is a harder task than achieving anything with them. The other thing I've seen bandied about in various forms is the "financial safety and security for his family" rubbish. Seriously, how much money does someone need before they think they have enough and other considerations take precedence? Does it go on forever? Does a billionaire still feel he really needs 2 or 3 more in order to feel "safe"? This to me is a product of a capitalist society that values money over life itself, and to see people on an average wage fawning over a fabulously wealthy individual and justifying their greed makes me shake my head in bewilderment, quite frankly. No, imo it's ego that drives Trent. I've said since he was 20 that I think he believes he's a lot better than he actually is, and that he's been suckered by the adulation that being a local lad made good has brought him. It may well come as a shock to him to find those same fans now turning against him, but it isn't that surprising. The more they built him up the more betrayed they feel. For me, I've always thought as a person he seemed a bit arrogant ( a personality trait I don't take to) and as a footballer a frustrating mix - a world class passer of the ball but a mid-table level defender. Talk of the Ballon d'Or betrays the gulf between where he thinks he is and where I believe him to be, and I don't think Real Madrid fans will give him the support the local ones did - unless he gets his finger out.
I think most people full expect him to get destroyed by real fans if he tries his antics there. Can't track/won't track and letting barca or atletico players waltz by won't cut it. I think most people fully expect the same
I wonder... RM scouts can't be stupid - they must have watched him and know he cba defending half the time. Perhaps they're planning something different?
Madrid don’t need to defend for 75% of their games in La liga to be fair. He’ll be given license to do business thing and be fine. In the big big games is where it’ll be interesting, who knows Alonso might be able to make it work and possible go back 3/5 and use TAA as a wing back with another cb alongside to cover.
who knows. They like a freebie. Plus they have 70% of the ball. maybe they think he can just hit mbappe with long ball all day? Their squad next season may well suit a 3 at the back. I don't know but with the unbalanced nature of it (LW central) i don't really know what they might be thinking. the second he lets someone skin him and walks back watching i can only assume he will be balled out of it by every player and fan and manager. It will be down to him as to how he intergrates. Bale never tried. He was always discussed as perferring golf to hanging out all hours of the night eating with the team and such. basically if the starts take to him and his performances are ok then the papers won't trun and drive the fans to turn. Its intensely political there. We on the other hand are driven by whatever reactionary values are being hold in the crowd. They will not stop booing the natioal anthem. they will not stop booing the uefa anthem. Why? it does nobody any good but thats just that. They eventually forgot about sterling after he was dropped by city but it took years of dogs abuse. we got 49mil for that guy and he did no worse than trent, actually he was got rid of and was more honest baout it even if he did throw in stinkers to secure his move.
This is pretty much how I see him with the addition of immaturity. I remember a few years back (before we won number 19 with Klopp) Trent being interviewed and asked ' would you rather England win the WC or Liverpool win the league?' and he answered 'that's really hard to answer because I can't decide which would be better' (as best as I remember it). I thought then him being a scouser and playing for Liverpool didn't give the answer I expected which isn't hard at all especially when you add in how scousers, in general, feel about the England team. Trent doesn't even sign the National anthem. Obviously I couldn't have predicted what's unfurled but it put some sort of doubt about him in my mind.
Whether we agree with his reasoning or not, I think the booing was unnecessary and embarrassing tbh. Fine, boo when he's initially introduced into the game if you are that way inclined but not once on the pitch and playing. I grew up believing Liverpool fans to understand football, and always respectful to their own and opposition players. I'm more disappointed with yesterday's crowd and the fan reaction in general than I am if Trent's decision. #ynwa my arse I know I'll be in the minority with this and can't be arsed with the **** that'll come back my way so see you all next week....
You are entitled to that opinion, I very much doubt anyone would give you stick over it. I'd agree totally booing as it went served nobody. They made the point
Think carragher made the point - what ever you feel about Trent if you really need to vent the anger, then put it into a song about Bradley like they did afterwards. Yes we all know why Bradley and Gerrard songs got sung but at least it’s a positive for the players out there rather than turning things a bit toxic.
Your opinion is as valid as everyone else's. I can see all sides. I say all sides because there are more than two sides in this instance. I said last week that I hoped he wouldn't be booed. I think this one is on Slot. He didn't need to play him.
