How can they rave about Delacroix after that? It was a G3 in 2m 10.59s (slow by 4.99s) The next race, a fillies maiden, was won by Butterfly Wings (100/1 for the Oaks) in 2m 7.46s (slow by 1.86s) That's a staggering 3.13 secs faster, and she won comfortably by 4l carrying 4lb less
Delacroix wasn't close to being fully wound up either, there were murmurings over the weekend in Ireland that TLIW might not be right for Epsom and Delacroix is the main dart.
I understand that Nass. The time of the race doesn't prove anything but conversely it doesn't prove what might have happened had they ran the race over 4 secs faster. And the time of the maiden proved that the maiden can run the race in the time achieved and almost certainly quite a bit faster as it was an easy win for her. So the only thing it does show is that Delacroix would have had to have run at least 4 secs faster to win the maiden. The races were only 30 mins apart All I am saying is that it wasn't a performance to get excited about
