I hope he's strong - there's a lot of massive egos to deal with there, and an extremely entitled and demanding fanbase.

 

If a manager resigns they would miss out on any loyalty bonus and the current club isn't obligated to pay out the contract, but other than that a manager can just walk away if they want too.

Klopp would have been the same last summer, gave up any bonus and future wages.

Most managers obviously prefer to be paid out of their contract as it helps the club they are leaving

 

I highly doubt contracts just allow managers to resign and go work at another club. Will be gardening leave periods written into it and release clauses that if they walk away they have to pay back X amount or something.

It sounds like they’ve had a discussion and agreed to go early but I’d imagine Alonso is just going to buy out remaining contract (only a year) and Madrid will give him payment once he joins to compensate it.

 

I would imagine Alonso and Leverkusen had a chat last summer, something along the lines of 'one more season then leave'

They should have also given them 2 trophies for the 2 titles they would have won last 2 years if it was decided on their points from last 2 years against our points this year but only after 35 games and not 38 games.

Hard to appreciate just how bad they must have been tbh as we've been utterly atrocious and still ended up better than them.

 

They were truly awful that season, they didn't even look like winning and were lucky to get as many points as they did

 

Their biggest win was 1-0 against the toon and obviously it was the only win
