Ref obviously decided that it wasn’t a genuine attempt to play the ball at the point where he pulls him back.
Watching the replay of the penalty it looked pretty clearly a penalty to me. he pulled the guy back, stopping him shooting, only after that did he try to get a foot on the ball. Defender probably didn’t mean it to happen like that but it did as he was through on goal it should also have been a red I think. ruined the game though.
Ruined the game but I expected the blunts to win this. City have been very patchy this season. The blunts were fairly consistent until they fell apart again...
As I said, the rule isn’t about being through on goal or being the last man, it’s if the ref deems the tackle as a genuine attempt to play the ball and not a “professional foul”. Goodman on co-coms thought it should have been a yellow, the pundits at halftime all thought red. It did ruin the game though. Don’t know why defenders don’t let it play out, keepers sometimes pull off a worldy and forwards miss sitters. Worst case you’re one down but still have 11 men on the pitch.
I think he will be a great fit. We aren't going to get a 20 goal a season striker and think Piroe will be OK off the bench It's definitely the profile we should be looking for
