Sending off killed that game, 11v11 we competed. Still a few additions needed in the summer and hope we don’t waste millions again on duds like Mayulu, Armstrong and Twine.
I’d rather lose 3-0 up there than try and play out a draw. It doesn’t matter now. Oh - and it was Sir Dickie that got himself sent off - not Vyner, Twine or Max.
It was a bad error by an experienced pro like Dickie, but we all have a risk of blood now and again, let’s not hang him out to dry over this. With him suspended and all the other injuries, it’s going to be a very makeshift back 3 on Monday night….
Dickie shouldn’t have allowed their striker to get goal side, but, and I usually stick up for Max, should Max have seen the danger and closed him down?, he seemed to me, again, to hesitate, did anyone else think he should have closed the attacker down quickly. To me had he done so he would have got there in time, it may have risked giving a penalty away, but at least as he’d been attempting to play the ball it may have been just a yellow, or did he do the right thing, not risking giving away a penalty and a sending off
Mayulu and Armstrong were never our first choices. Our first choice who we chased was Moussa Sylla (who scored 16 for Schalke this season) and cost £2.5 million in the summer. Then there was another player (can’t remember who played somewhere like Poland / Croatia region) Mayalu and Armstrong were Tinnions panick buys due to losing those two. Twine (albiet injured a lot) was Mannings choice, but I suspect he didn’t want to spend that much hence why Earthy came in. But seemed to me we chased Twine that much we priced him high in Burnley’s eyes and took it when we should have walked away. Bird, McNally (missed him a lot in run in) Stokes are all good signings.
So you agree his expensive signings have been extremely poor. Not going to get anywhere near the money spent back on them. What do you think about him constantly playing Armstrong over Cornick crazy.
Seems we panicked when we weren’t successful with our targets, I get that, but neither Armstrong or Fally should have even been on the list. Fally has gone back abroad and Armstrong isn’t anywhere near championship standard, that was more than evident last night, he’s awful. The very least you’d expect if he shoukd have run himself into the ground, he just jogged about in no man’s land.
hope we never see that ref again,he was crap at oxford and crap tonight,, a pen sure but straight red no way..
With Dickie unavailable defence is short, also left sided unless Pring is back, we’re short of cover all over the pitch. Midfield without Joe, the list goes on. I know the red card altered the game, but we really are short in numbers of Quality, as well as quantity. We’d burnt ourselves out achieving top 6 and were running on fumes.
I’m sure in the past you’ve slated Cornick as well. 1 Cornick just coming back from injury. 2 I could see the idea of using Armstrong up front as he’s big and strong. It worked against Oxford when we went to 9 players (well done Langford you cock) Armstrong showed no emotion of Saturday, hes playing like he don’t want to be here. He’s had chance after chance and I suspect he will be like Fally and loaned out or sold this summer.
