But it's not just to discuss what the problems were (are). It's also to agree the plans going forward. And no idea whether they discussions started right away or have even started yet.
how long will these plans last when reality bites? will they make plans before deciding on the manager? it sounds like messing about for the sake of it
No decision that Baz knows of, doesn’t mean Ruben doesn’t know. We are terrible at announcements, a okayet can train with us for 2 days before we announce he’s even signed
I think he could sell the job to a proper proven manager. Too many **** appointments and he can point to that. It’s not like he’s sacked Mowbray, Corcoran, Robins and Neil. He’s gambled on wildcards every single time and with the exception of Rosenior, they’ve all been **** and well deserved and needed to be sacked. Rosenior I am sure wasn’t sacked for football reasons, despite what he said, I think they clashed and couldn’t work together, which is sometimes just the way it is.
I think you’ll find the vast majority of people thought asking Rosey was a very bad decision, and yes we all gave Walter the benefit of the doubt once he was appointed, same as any manager who comes in. I think most were sceptical of him all along though? I can’t really remember now. I just remember everyone wanted Steve Cooper then he ended up at Leicester and we eventually got Walter. Agree too many blame it on the players. Exactly the same is now happening with Selles.
I think the excuse he used to sack Rosenior is bollocks. The real reason was probably due to just missing out on the play-offs after Acun went all in during January and spat his dummy out. It’s stupid as well because the chances of us getting promoted that year were slim even if we made the play-offs.
hindsight and all right but how ****ing piss easy would this season have been for playoffs compared to last
Disagree on Selles. He's basically matched the job Rosenior did in his first 6 months by achieving mid table form. Given Acun's track record for appointments what makes you think he will appoint a proven and experienced championship manager who's likely to be around indefinitely this time around?
They almost certainly fell out over selection, particularly the goalkeeper. It wasn't just Rosey that left due to it either. We lost Baz Richardson and Lee Darnborough that summer also. Don't buy that it was his style as both managers since have also based their game on a possession based style.
But Acun then brought in Rushworth and Racciopi and Selles also dropped Pandur for Rushworth as soon as he could. A decision that, under other circumstances, I would have agreed with by the way. I think they definitely did clash over the goalkeeper, but I just get the feeling from various interviews from both that they just couldn’t really work together. Rosenior was always pushing about things being his way which often would come across as quite bizarre and out of the blue at the time but with hindsight, a lot of those comments I reckon were shots fired at the owner.
Rushworth was an odd signing in the vacuum. He’s highly rated but we’d brought in Racioppi and whilst I get Pandur had a shaky preseason it felt like Acun saw a high profile loan come available late and pounced on it. FWIW I think had he been fit he would’ve started all season for us but thankfully for Ivor he got his chance and took it
He Could - but if he sacks Selles what's the odd on him making another bleeding comedy appointment like Averladze or Walter? - Mowbray, Corcoran, Robins and Neill would be too sensible to come here
that's not true although the spanish guy would have chosen us over valencia, so im glad we didnt get him as he'd have left mid season plus thank christ we dont have mowbray or robins
I’ve just realised I put Corcoran, wasn’t he the policeman? I meant to put Corberan, and even then I was thinking of Eustace, that got sacked under controversial circumstances when they’re in the playoffs.
I’m starting to wonder if Acun has got one season left in him before he has to sell. Taking one last punt. Selles will improve us next season and probably get us mid table without too much fuss. Acun rolling the dice to see if he can find someone to produce a miracle.
The line "and there's the equaliser for City" became quite the catchphrase for us this season didn't it?
