Borussia Dortmund sent a high-level delegation to Sunderland on Wednesday to try and tie up the signing of Sunderland midfielder Joe Bellingham.

Reports in Germany claim that Dortmund have stepped up their efforts to secure the Sunderland star’s services by flying into the north east on a private jet, before travelling back home later that evening.

Dortmund manager Niko Kovac, managing director, Lars Ricken, and sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, made a trip to Newcastle via a private jet on Wednesday. They then went to meet representatives of Bellingham to discuss a potential summer move worth around £21.2million.

The trio were met at the airport on their return by German journalists, but refused to comment when asked about the transfer talks.

We need him to show what he can do these next 2/3 games, I fully believe if he plays like we know he can then we'll be up

    "worth around £21.2m"

Surely that's starting at around £21.2m...up front.

Expecting a lot of movement if we don't go up, something like this:

    BOLD = Keep

    Keepers
Anthony Patterson (£8m-10m, Southampton, Tottenham etc)
    Simon Moore
    Blondy Noukeu

Nathan Bishop (nominal fee, league one/two, only one year left on his contract so we will look for a permanent deal).
    Matthew Young

    Defenders
    Niall Huggins
    Dennis Cirkin
(one year left on his deal, imperative to renew him or sell)
    Dan Ballard
    Luke O'Nien
(last year left on his deal, renew)
    Jenson Seelt
    Chris Mepham (expired loan)
    Trai Hume
    Leo Hjelde
    Aje Alese

    Joe Anderson (any offers accepted)
    Tim Pembele (loan or sold)
    Zak Johnson
    Oli Bainbridge
(enact the +1 on his contract)

    Midfield
Dan Neil (last year on his deal, sell £10m-15m, Everton, Brentford, Palace etc)
Jobe (£20m-£25, Dortmund, Palace, Tottenham, Man Utd, Real Madrid)
    Alan Browne
Patrick Roberts (£2m-3m, top half Championship club, Celtic?, ambitious League One club)
Chris Rigg (keep for another season unless offers above £20m)
    Romain Mundle
    Salis Samed (expired loan)
    Enzo Le Fee (expired loan)
    Milan Aleksic
    Ian Poveda (mutual termination)
    Tom Watson (Brighton)
    Abdoullah Ba (last chance saloon)
    Adil Aouchiche (loan or sold)
Jay Matete (last year of his deal, take any offers, no more loans)
Pierre Ekwah (Take any offer over £3.5m if St-Etienne don't enact the £7m deal)
    Harrison Jones
    Nectar Triantis

    Forwards
    Eliezer Mayenda
    Wilson Isidor
    Abdul Abdullahi

    Jayden Danns (expired loan)
    Hemir (loan or sold)
    Rusyn (loan or sold)

If we don't go up I think he's got a serious chance at making it here, Dan Neil and Jobe increasingly likely to be off so he will (probably) be competing with Alan Browne, Rigg, Aleksic and Harrison Jones for a starting birth, he should fancy his chances as the only real DM in that list.

Currently the more attacking of the hibs midfield, but yeah I think long term he's got a future playing as a DM.

Be a great option for them, fills a domestically grown quota and with Fraser Forster out of contract in the summer they'd be getting a young English keeper with potential, even if they paid £10m they could probably get most of that back even if he sits on the bench for a couple of seasons.

They’ve still got Brandon Austin for HG quota. Doubt they’d waste £10m on Patterson for him to be fourth choice when they’ve already got someone who fills the quota
