Reminds me of watching us last season, obviously on a much bigger scale. Loads of the ball in promising areas with nobody to add the finishing touch then concede stupid goals
****ing hell. What a chance. They can’t come back here surely can they. I’m dreading Friday watching footy this week
I wouldn't be particularly surprised if Arteta is moved on this summer, in fact I think it's what I would do. New Sporting Director (Berta) will want his own man. This squad has been assembled with an absolute load of money and are they particularly close to winning a trophy? Very possible they end up 3rd in the PL behind Liverpool with a manager in their first season and City who were hopeless for long stretches of this season. The semi finals of the league cup were an embarrassment. Knocked out the FA Cup by a rotten Man Utd. The way he goes on as well is borderline pathetic. Always an excuse.
A word on PSG though, a TEAM beats individuals every day of the week. Best PSG side i've seen since their emergence by a long stretch. And Enrique is one of the best ever.
I think we have seen, over the last two nights, that the top end of the premier league isnt as good as the top of other European leagues. Paris, Barca and Inter all looked on a different level to me. Just an opinion but I think we are falling behind again at the very top end. Maybe one or two coaches a bit too stubborn? Arteta seems to be - can they really not find a 9? Will Pep come again at City? I wonder when an English club may when the big pot again - could be a few years away.
Arsenal’s bench tonight was disgraceful for a CL semi mind. Absolutely nobody on there to change the game, barring maybe Trossard but that’s scraping the barrel. Thought Barca and PSG looked so far ahead of the competition a few months back but fair play to Inter they’re like this years Madrid!
Think Liverpool are best positioned but how long will Salah and Van Dijk play at the level they are now? City will spend huge this summer but replacing KDB is easier said than done but I'd never write off Pep, especially with Rodri back. The rest of them are way too chaotic. Chelsea seem to be aiming to win the Champions League in 2030, Arsenal aren't winning anything with Arteta, Man Utd no chance unless there's a change in ownership. That leaves the Mags and i'd rather not talk about that.
He is unbearable on the touch line and in interviews. Will say, I know he’s spent a lot of money, but what a mess he inherited and has got them from 8th/9th sort of positions to a CL semi final and the 2nd best in England for three years on the bounce. Could make sense to move on now with the new DOF in but I’d probably lean to giving him one more go next year. They win the the prem next year imo with a quality striker and one or two better rotation options
It’s interesting for sure. I would say, maybe being ignorant, but the prem feels so much harder to win. Bar maybe 6/7 league games a season against the bottom teams, every team can beat you on their day, home or away. Not sure the other leagues have it to that level and lets them rotate a bit more and save intensity for the later parts of the season. Goes under the radar the spending power of these European teams too.
Agree 100% with this. Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham and Palace occupy 8th - 12th in the PL. All have very good coaches and all have at least 3 players worth £30m+ if not more. No other league has that.
Sorry if already mentioned arteta- arsenal where 100% the best team in the champions league this season https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cm25231y63no
