Football finance expert Stefan Borson has delivered positive news, explaining that promotion bonuses will be factored into the 2025-26 season calculations, offering the Whites a financial buffer. Borson clarified that promotion bonuses, estimated at around £20 million, can be treated as expenditure in the subsequent Reporting Period. This essentially means Leeds can defer the financial impact of these bonuses, easing the pressure on their PSR calculations for the immediate 2024-25 season. That said, if they do want to go big this summer, there are levers they can pull to do that without breaching PSR. “Because new signings are amortised over five years whereas sales profits hit the books immediately, a £50 million profit on player sales gives you £250 million worth of PSR headroom to spend on new signings in your first year in the Premier League. “Again, it’s not a free hit. You still have to cover the amortised cost over the next five years, which means you might have to be more conservative in the transfer market next season. Morning all You feel our best chance of grabbing Solomon is now, whilst his emotions are high and straight after celebrating promotion. Give a few weeks for it all to die down and report back to Spurs and suddenly other better placed teams will seem more attractive We also need a few swift decisions, Firpo being another, it is going to be a busy transfer window and having someone like Solomon who already knows the setup and has had a season with us under his belt would have been ideal
Read somewhere that Ampadu let it slip that Firpo had made his decision and is joining Betis. Unfortunately with Solomon perhaps his next move will be made mainly by his agent. His heart will possibly be here but those whispers in his ears will determine that he goes with the money..
Have to say the prices quoted for Solomon, seem very cheap for a player with his ability, in his prime. I think the injury history keeps it lower but, a season where he had some niggles without the knee probelm flaring up can't help our cause.
