Us v Leeds is a big game no matter what division. The premier league isn't the be all and end all of football
We wouldn’t win many but that first season is all about survival, no matter how you do it. It would be ridiculously tough but promotion then relegation would be better than not going up this season.
Why isn't it the same? I have argued with myself numerous times about promotion, course I want us to be as high as we can be, but I also love the championship. I've said before football needs a reset financially, we can't compete with nation owned clubs or the so called big 6.
PL trumps all. Bigger games, better stadiums, club improves as a result of huge money coming into the club, better players come in, going back down involves the cheat code that is parachute payments. I see no positives in staying in the championship, you might win more games but what's the point if you don't want to go up?
You have spent all season praising the top 3 in the championship, christ knows what you be like when we get promoted and possibly hammered most weeks
To add to my post, the players we all love do not want to be in the Championship and will not stay with us for very long if we stay in this league. Jobe, Rigg, Neil, Mundle, Mayenda, Cirkin, Hume, Isidor will all be gone to the PL (or other top flights) if we hang around in the Championship. We've already seen with Watson that you lose players before we've barely seen them play.
The aim is to win and be ambitious. That's the PL. The players we have here, who we like won't hang about and we have to continue to push forward.
The 3 sides who’ve been comfortably the best in the division? Aye. 100 points for 2 of those. They’ll still struggle next season. I know how tough the PL will be, we’d be lucky to win 10 games but for the future of the club it’s where we’re better off FWIW - I think we’ll be playing championship football again next season
KLD wants promotion. Speakman wants promotion. RLB wants promotion. The players want promotion. They've all said that in interviews. When I see the likes of Palace being in their 2nd FA Cup final in 8 years, Brighton playing in Europe, Bournemouth with a £40m striker up front and one of the most sort after managers in Europe, Forest on course of European football I get immensely jealous.
11 wins between the 3 promoted sides last year id be ****ing ecstatic if we managed ten wins in the prem haha, well aware it would be a miserable season but it’s where we need to be to progress long term, bit of luck and survive the first year then who knows look at forest, Brentford, Bournemouth etc no reason we can’t end up in a similar position
Forest win tonight and they’re level on points with 4th, and a single point behind Man City! They’ve just been in an FA Cup semi final too I highly doubt some of their supporters didn’t want promotion
Ever fancied praising the team you support? Or when we get promotion are tou going to spend all summer and the season banging on about how ****e we are or didn't spend enough? You happy to accept a ****e season and probably relegation to improve the club? If that's the case then champion, we are on the same page
That’s exactly it mate Struggling all season but survival on the final day would be a better feeling than being promoted from the championship. That first season avoiding relegation is unbelievable imo
