Israeli ministers approve the plan to capture all of Gaza and remain there. I guess that’s that then. In twenty years time that will be known as Israel.
Do they plan to kill all the current inhabitants, or are they hoping they’ll take their chances crossing the Med on small boats?
Nah ... still be Gaza ... but the remaining hostages will be returned as corpses ... coz 'intensifying' has really worked so far in facilitating their release ... Best thing that might come out of this is the UN finally getting off their arses and doing something about the continuing violations ... Meanwhile ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c934r9nw4r9o
Should also note that at this point, under international law, Hamas have every right to use lethal force against the invading and occupying forces.
After watching the Yazidi documentary yesterday, I done a bit of research into the differences between ISIS and Hamas, just for general comparisons, which there are many differences. Reason I wanted to research is because in the eyes of Yazidi's ISIS cannot exist or be spoken of, if ppl watch the video I put up they will see the Yazidi reasoning. Anyway of all the differences between ISIS and Hamas, one thing clearly stood out about the latter in my readings, and that was Israel cannot exist - I've heard that said before by a Hamas leader in a documentary to a journalist, something about no peace until...whatever it was. So it gives me some understanding of why Israel feel this way (Israeli ministers), I'm not saying that's right, I'm merely expressing understanding. There is one trait though that I did find with ISIS that they shared with Hamas imho, and that is they hide in civilian populations, even refugee camps. They wait within those refugee camps until the time is right, finding weapons to hoard, even holding captives, yes, even making tunnels! The refugee camps overtime become unsafe for outsiders or soldiers because they become split into factions. So from time to time soldiers have to go within the camps and check who is actually in there, hence how some Yazidi's get freed. Remembering these are camps made up of thousands upon thousands of refugees. Soldiers have to get the women to remove their face coverings because captors are forced to hide their faces. These women will have spent years being seriously abused in every unimaginable way, so are terrified to even try and escape for fear of the consequences.
Not sure international law has factored massively into their decision-making thus far. It’ll be fine.
It’s semantics I agree. But Israel’s actions now mean that Hamas are no longer a terrorist organisation, but a ligit resistance force against foreign occupiers.
Think you'll find it's still a terrorist organisation as proscribed by the UK. The law hasn't changed to my knowledge and even showing or expressing support for it is considered illegal in the UK (ie a criminal offence).
For the avoidance of confusion; Hamas are a bunch of murderers. The Israeli government and IDF are absolutely on a par with Hamas. A curse on both their houses
They can call themselves The Beatles for all the difference it’ll make should Benny Netz decide to crack on with it.
under international law, they now have the right to armed resistance from an occupying force. The moment Israel admitted that they were going to forcibly occupy Gaza, they legitimised Hamas as a legitimate resistance force
I think we'll probably find that Sir Keir is busy for the next 3 to 4 days with VE celebrations, as he will not want to miss a single event or cut any short unlike the previous Prime Minister...so all parliamentary work on this matter will have to be put on hold. I suggest probably coming back on this topic next Monday, I bid you good day... please log in to view this image
Don't take my word for it... International law recognizes a right to armed resistance against foreign occupation, particularly when a people's right to self-determination is denied. The 1970 UN General Assembly Resolution 2625 explicitly recognizes the legitimacy of armed resistance against alien subjugation, domination, and exploitation. Similarly, UN General Assembly resolutions related to the Palestinian issue have been interpreted as upholding the right to armed resistance against Israeli occupation
