As I keep on saying I know nothing about Farage or Reform. But I don’t think you can level the worldly experience thing at just him. Find me a prime minister that hasn’t come from upper echelons of society. They will be few and far between.
Kier Starmer's dad was a toolmaker, his mother a nurse. He got a scholarship to a private grammar school.
The Harold Wilson whose dad was an industrial chemist and who studied at Oxford University and went on to be a don there or a different Harold Wilson who started off life selling old fish heads down the docks where his mam was a fishwife? I am of course being facetious here which I’m sure you recognise. I’m not saying that every prime minister came from the landed gentry but the majority of them have. A quick search of Wiki bears this out, although I will concede your point about Harold Wilson not coming from the ruling classes but he was hardly working class either. Labour’s poster boy Tony Blair went to The Chorister School in Durham then Fettes College in Edinburgh. You could easily ask what he really knew about socialism and the plight of the working classes. No prime minister has really come from the proper working class, be they Labour or Tory. From Wiki. Twenty prime ministers were schooled at Eton College, of whom nine were educated at Eton andChrist Church, Oxford, including all three who held office between 1880 and 1902 (Gladstone, Salisbury, Rosebery). Seven were educated at Harrow School and six at Westminster School. Rishi Sunak was the second to be educated at Winchester College. Eleven prime ministers to date have been educated at only non-fee-paying schools; these include all five who held office between 1964 and 1997 (Wilson, Heath, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major). Theresa May was educated at both independent and grammar schools. Three did not receive (primary or secondary) school education and were homeschooled during childhood.
You correct in as much the likes of Eton and Harrow produce a lot of our PM's.... But those who went to Uni at Oxford/Cambridge cannot be thrown into that pool... They just happened to do well for themselves and managed to get into a great university.... But I do know where your'e coming from
None really. As you know, I live in Australia and have done for 18 years now. He is being disingenuous when he says his dad was a toolmaker though. That’s like saying my dad was an electrical supply accountant. He was actually a meter reader for NEEB.
There is no record at Companies house of Rodney Starmer owning, or being a director of a toolmaking company. He was blue collar.
Oxted Tool Co. In fairness there is a bit of ambiguity about this. I’ve found this article from the Daily Mail which tries to clear it up. I am always happy to be corrected if I’m wrong. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9680091/amp/King-Middle-Class-Radicals.html
Daily Mail . "Skilled manual worker" "Sole trader". He was a self employed toolmaker. My grandfather was a self employed sole trader joiner. Does that make me nobility? I have a trade, but am not self employed. I could request a UTR (unique tax reference) number from HMRC tomorrow and instantly become a self employed sole trader painter and decorator. It is that simple.
As I said, happy to be corrected if I’m wrong which it seems I might have been. I’m not looking for arguments here.
Me neither, I understand the terminology because of my job and people I work with. A lot of lads go down the UTR route as some employers want sub contractors so they don't have to deal with tax and employers NIC's. I don't want that so remain PAYE/umbrella company for agency.
After watching that video of him I put on, I would say he’s a snivelling two faced twat wherever he’s come from.
He was a self employed, sole trader toolmaker, no records of being an owner or director of a company at Companies house. See Jimmy Krankies link.
That's easily rectified mate, not that complicated. In a nutshell he ‘hates coloured people’ but no one admits it … … he denies it, no one truly believes him. His supporters admire him for it and will accept/ignore all other policies because of it … … his critics won’t actually say it. That’s basically it.
