The problem with the debate about the legality of migrants and returning them is that it eventually escalates to "gun them down in the sea", people want the problem sorted and the longer it anchors into normal politics the more radical solutions seem palatable.
Labour need to offload McSweeney for someone who cares about redistribution and Starmer and Reeves for people with positive energy. The opportunity and gap exists on the left. Just get cash off the wealthy and sort out the economy that way. There’s public support for this but the Labour leadership are in hock to big business.
