I don't understand why we've dropped both Fuller and Hampton. Albert should have been the one to make way for Organ. Our bowling attack is way too light now.
Decent first session. Pretty awful after that. As I was always worried we might, we've clearly messed up with our second overseas slot. We're now weaker in the batting and the bowling. Brevis coming in for matches 8 and 9 will help, but we've still got another three games before then. If Hampton can no longer get a place in our starting XI, then I reiterate my point about seeing if Pretorius might join us early. Stoneman could be dropped with Albert moved up to open, with Pretorius slotting into the middle order. And either Fuller or Turner come in to join Abbott, Wheal and Baker.
Good partnership to save follow on. Skipper's knock combined with Organ who made a very good 150 for St Cross recently.
Yeah, I don't like him in the top seven (unless/until his batting improves), but he's a solid option at no.8. The problem is that a no.8 should also be a strong bowling option, whereas Organ merely falls into the "handy option" category.
I think I'd rather he bats at 7, we drop Albert and we bring in Fuller TBH. We've lacked that extra bowling option in this game. Albert isn't really justifying the faith being shown in him.
If we were to drop Albert, I think I'd give Orr a go first. I'm not convinced by Orr as an opener in red ball cricket, but I'd like he see if he could succeed at no.6 or no.7 with his attacking style. I don't understand why we've moved Albert down to no.7, it feels like a repeat of when we tried it with Holland. Fletcha could do with a score soon. Yet to get a 50 this season and averages 28. Not terrible, but improvement needed.
An incredible victory by Somerset. The pitch is still very green but a fantastic century by James Rew and an imperious 50 from Craig Overton contributed to an almost impossible chase of 321. That will hopefully kick start our season now.
