Really good article by Stevie Taylor about his injury. http://http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16116940.stm
Quite humbling, good idea for a blog series though. We tend to just not think of the actual rehabilitation process for seriously injured players, will be nice to get a player's perspective.
It was interesting how he has he turned round at the time thinking he had been kicked. I remember him looking round at Torres, I assumed Torres had caught him but obviously not. Apparently the snap of an achillies is frightening, and only the noise of the crowd would have killed it.
It's very tough recovering from serious injuries. You can't sleep because of the pain and you stay inside for weeks with bugger all to do. Wish him a speedy recovery.
My Dad's went a couple of years ago, he said it wasn't loud, it wasn't painful, but it was incredibly nauseous. He felt sick for hour afterwards. Plus, he was too old for the op, he was in full length plaster (hip down) for 2 months I think, and then plaster below the knee for another 6 weeks. His calfs still aren't symmetrical...
Exactly the type of player every club needs and wants. His motivation and determination is second to none , get well soon Stevie! Going to be a huge miss.
Must vary, do you think Taylor will recover since he had the op? I heard a story back in school of a girl who's achillies snapped playing badminton during PE and the whole hall heard it go, she had to be operated on within 48 hours.
Very good read, and we'll really miss him. Fantastic attitude and I really thought the injuries were behind him this season. Worst "injury noise" I've ever heard was Ben Arfa's leg snapping at Man City, you could hear it over the crowd.
My mam snapped hers falling down stairs at work last year. She couldnt walk properly for about 6 months.
When he first went down, I thought he had cramp in his calf. Just shows how wrong you can be. I really feel for Stevie, he obvs has his heart and soul in this club, but fate is not on his side.
