I honestly think if we play like this next season we will struggle. You can’t even use the argument that we’re playing premier league standard opposition today.
I don't think we will be at Luton level, but as things stand we are worse than when we went up and Ipswich and Leicester remain comfortably better than us, so promotion will be difficult without a huge overhaul.
Think you really over estimate the quality of this squad. We will lose the likes of Ramsdale, KWP, Dibling, Fernandez. Lesley back to Chelsea. THB thinks he’s better than he is, so will go, Bednarek who is probably the best of a very average CB bunch, will go as well. This squad conceded over 60 in the last championship season. Plus this year you’ll have the likes of Birmingham and Wrexham coming up who will spend big as well. Oh, and we’re the worst of the teams getting relegated as today clearly shows. But yeah, we’ll be fine next season.
It’s all about confidence. We should have enough talent to be competing at the top end of the league. It’s why I predicted us to finish 15th or whatever when we went down last time, not because of the talent in the squad but because they were a bunch of pussies who folded under any sort of pressure. This lot are worst than the 22/23 team, but if we get off to a reasonable start then the talent should be enough to get us competing at the top end of the table. Our side last year was probably better than Luton’s PL side on paper, they showed far more heart for their PL campaign though. And have under achieved this year, but they were a top half Champ team who got promoted with a bit of luck. Talent wise this team isn’t as bad as it has shown this season I think. But mentally they are weak, we blew any good feeling around the club with the disastrous start and giving away goals/games and since then it’s just been a slow plod where nobody (bar the fans) appears bothered
